Hmmm. I always wondered what a topless 4G would look like.

Always good for someone to remind you every now and then that these cars we have are like coke cans.

Roll cages aren't such a bad idea.

T'is why my brother keeps going on at me to buy one. He wants me to get a roll cage more than I do.

I have to say, I would like a bespoke cage....but one that still allows use of the rear seats.

They are ok until you crack your head on one in a crash....
It's hard to see what state the car was in before the recovery teams cut the top off.
Do US drivers have to wear seat belts?

I'm assuming that is the roof to the left of the car.... And id stab a guess at the state of the car being completely fooooked even before they chopped it up to pull the body/body parts out!
Very nasty looking. Hope driver and passengers made it out ok.

Slim chance of that happeneing if you belted in. Rather that than the roof/side crushing you at XXmph

we'll have to disagree on that one then...
I'd agree door bars are very useful whwre there's no side impact protection
I had a very low speed bump at Rockingham a few years back in my 944 - spun & hit the armco backwards. My head hit the door frame. There's plenty of movement possible in a crash, particularly with 3 point belts, and the body is quite elastic under these circumstances.
Look at the padding the FIA mandates now - even with a helmet!
I'm still considering what to do with the padding on my cage. The FIA style padding is just so hard that it's difficult to believe it will help un un-helmeted head.

It's part of the reason why caged cars are hard to insure for road use.
If you are racing, get a seat with wrap rounds for the head or consider a hans device.
You only get the one head.
