Silver valver. Restoration/Track toy.
Silver valver. Restoration/Track toy.
Back in a 4g again.
Lovely 76k standard, lady owner for many years.
Saved from the scrap heap by my brother.
Plans are to make the A9 go very well. Generally make it into a light weight track toy. Restoring it along the way ensuring it will be around for many years to come. Unless it gets damaged on track!
I've already done quite a bit to it but I will start from the beginning.

Re: Silver valver. Restoration/Track toy.
With a track day coming up and the car completely standard, I ordered a lot of service parts! Just to ensure it was all up to scratch. Start a fresh as it didn't have any history although clearly looked after.
Rotor arm
Dizzy cap
Leads
Plugs
Timing belt kit
Water pump
Alternator belt
All done at 76k

I then got a set of sprints and a new set of H&R coilovers with some replica skunk2 loop eye LCA's.
Set about refurbishing the sprints. Lots of curbing to get out. Painted them in a similar colour to rats bronze.
H&R's fitted. Arches rolled on the back to fit the chunky nankang ns2r's.
Finished look. Along with a chargespeed rep poly lip from the US modded to fit the ED front.

Re: Silver valver. Restoration/Track toy.
Next up was a Luke harness and motocorsa wheel which I don't have a photo of.
First track day at brands highlighted some issues!
S*!t brakes!
Had a lot of fun though.

Re: Silver valver. Restoration/Track toy.
With the brake problems at brands, I got some s2000 calipers and G60 discs.
They don't have much room under the sprints, touching on wheel weights in a few places!
Next job was to try and sort a missing at idle issue. I've tried a new ecu, dizzy and not had much luck. Cleaned out all the inlet as well. While doing the inlet I ported the throttle body.
Almost knife edge butterfly, trim and aerofoil the shaft and contersunk Allen bolts.

Now it's nearly up to date.
I put a jap plate on the front and added the red pin stripe.
Also changed the box oil with Honda mtf along with a magnetic sump plug at 77k.
Midway through fitting a PLM manifold in this photo.

I got a 2.5 inch exhaust at longlife. Will become aparent why its big soon enough.
Wasn't impressed with the service, exhaust is nice though.

Re: Silver valver. Restoration/Track toy.
Excellent car and progress.
Good to have another build up thread on here.
I will be eagerly watching for updates.
Can you shed more light on the S2000 caliper and G60 disc combo? Interested to see if I could use the same set up on my EE9 (VT)

Cheers chaps.
Does seem very quite on here. Facebook revolution killed the forum!
The brake setup only works on the gl/valver hubs I think. As VT ones are different. I just spotted it when searching around on Google, planned to do it and then someone was braking a Rex that had them on it.
You can still get 282s on a vt though?

Stu for the Vt you can just buy Integra Dc2 brakes, they bolt straight on discs you use Rover erm Z something I forget now The saloon version of the ZR hatch iirc.
Or you can run Ep3 brakes for 300mm discs
