help needed with brake nipple

Post by junior2k2 »

hi guys. trying to bleed the brakes on my 4g. things is the nipples are seized on, trying to remove them and the bolts have rounded off , because there made out of butter. ive had the mole grips on them but it just keeps rounding off even more. i was thinking of taking the piston out but scared of the same thing happening to the bolts holding the piston in place. any ideas on what i should do next?

few hits with a hammerwire brush to clean them up and then mole grips but do them seriously tight, Or get an extractor kit thing for rounded bolts.

Also there arent any bolts holding the caliper piston in ?

I recently had a rounded and seized nipple..
I filed away opposite sides to get a slightly smaller spanner/socket on it, then put a huge adjustable wrench and plus gas on it and came off easily. Hammering a smaller socket on to rounded off bolts works too.

Only use six sided sockets or an open ring brake spanner. it is tooooooo easy to grab a 12 sided ring spanner but it just causes grief, invest in six sided kit and all your woes will disappear

No greater fun then backing off the throttle at 7400rpm and spraying fire out the exhaust ;)
