Clipses' 1990 USDM Civic EX Sedan

Post by clipsed »

Been on the website a couple weeks now and figured it's time to post up my build! :) Bought the car the same month I bought my brand new 09 VW Jetta GLI which was 2 years ago this month :P Car has come a LONG way since then, and is still under construction. Slowly but surely I am building it to my specifications to be a fun daily/weekend track warrior/slight show car. I'm trying to spice it up but mixing all 3 up, stirring up the pot, and see what the outcome is... On to the timeline!...

Picked her up, towed her home for a steal of a deal. Luckily I never tried starting the car, PO said it made noise, which had I turned it on, it'd have had a rod knock and probably broke a rod shortly after.

Image

Image

Next day...

Image

Image

Image

Image

Also began putting my black interior in IMMEDIATELY! Because the blue original interior was beat to crap and stained to hell and back.

Image

Image

Image

Also installed GSR leather seats and center console :)

Image

Image

Just chillen after getting put back together... (for the most part :P)

Image

Clearenced my cross member for my 4-1 header

Image

Can anyone guess what my friend uses to pull motors? Let's find out if you guess right...

Image

Just about ready, intake being like this is DANGEROUS!!!...

Image

Image

Tried starting it for the first time...

Image

It was a FAIL... backfire like a mofo, come to find out someone plugged the wires in wrong at the dizzy....

Got it all right, and got it running, badly, but running... :P

Image

DONE!!...

Image

With my homie's 91 DX...

Image

One of the last and only pics you will see with 90/91 tails... thumbsdown

Image

After the proving drive to my families house 80 miles away one way... SHE PASSED along with my new car in the back ground :P

Image

Then while I was up there with a few more tools at my disposal, got her running just right...

Image

mmmmmm leather!...

Image

Image

Then went to a local meet and while going there I here this loud KA DUNK!!! DUNK ... DUNK ... DUNK ... tried figuring out what it was... come to find out the rear shock which should look like this...

Image

happened to do this....

Image

Got it fixed and after my homie seeing my car at that meet he wanted to run me so the next meet we did just that...

Image

original video...

Image

Car was running nicely, so I pulled it apart again!...

Image

Ended up doing a wire tuck... also cleaned up my engine harness...

Image

Image

Image

Image

Made the A$$ look better as well! Before....

Image

After...

Image

Found a leak started from a broken stud as well  ...

Image

Reinforced my pedals... :)

Image

Image

Image

continued work and cleaning stuff! :)

Image

Image

electronic vss going in :)

Image

how I do my wiring!

Image

Image

Got my cluster in! :)

Image

began prepping my spare door panels to get redone...

Image

Picked up these babies!...

Image

wire tuck about done!...

Image

Image

Image

Polished up my lights...

Image

Did some freshening up on my mouldings...

Image

Image

started getting the car put back together at this point...

Image

picked up a custom 2.5" mandrel bent exhaust a local guy had on a turbo gsr 4 door!... :)

Image

Got my wheels back from refinishing!...

Image

Image

Image

Finally finished the car and took her to the annual ef meet with my buddy!...

Image

Image

Image

Image

Got my door panels back from my uncles shop...

Image

Image

HAHA!!!

Image

work began on a custom one off traction bar...

Image

Image

Image

Wasn't happy and actually still working on it...

picked up on these babies... circa 1992 ST sway bars when they USED TO BE blue...

Image

painted them to new spec though since ps fluid ate at the powder coat on the front bar...

Image

also picked up this stuff!...

Image

chillin at work!....

Image

Bunch of new ish koni yellows, gc's, skunk2 intake mani, blox 68mm tb, crower stage 2 cams, as well as installed new wheel bearings, arp extended studs, and lower ball joints, rebuilt manual steering rack, and rebuilt obd1 LS dizzy!!...

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

redid my harness and went obd1!!!

Image

Image

Image

began my retrofit project...

Image

Image

Image

Image

back up and running..... AGAIN!... lolz

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

And for shits and giggles, here is a video of me just cruising through the canyons...

Very nice video.

Those roads always remind me of the movie DUEL.

Thanks, found only 2 repeats and fixed them, especially that suspension pic lolz

Yes b18a1, and I wish it were a 4wd gearbox, just the knob lolz My hopeful goal is to one day mod the car to accept a 4wd box and all the components necessary for 4wd.

I'll update this as soon as I can, I ran out of primer the other day so just waiting on some extra cash to buy a full gallon instead of quarts of it... lolz

Thank you thank you! I will be VERY happy once I finish paint which should HOPEFULLY be completed by February at the rate I am going.

Yes I started doing wiring at about age 13, still have a lot to learn, and I am still progressing, but I am VERY anal when it comes to wiring!

Thank you sir, the stance now is a bit different, I will have to get updated pics when it is back on the ground.

Do any of you in the uk or elsewhere abroad have these taillights with the FULL amber wrap around, US laws require the red reflectors to be on the rear side of the vehicle...

yes these are pre face lift usdm 88/89 sedan tail lights. I've been looking for some, but they are hard to find, and when I do find them they are actually decently priced, but always broke at the time! :P However I have found someone who I believe makes aftermarket ones as I always see them brand new and iirc they are like $80usd or something like that.
