its off the car anyway so its not to much bother

Good find. I might try it on a spare one and see how much crap comes out of it.
Injectors are basically a high speed solenoid.
They injector a metereed amount of fuel at a certain pressure for how long the solenoid is activated.
The ECU drives them by turning them on and off at very high speed, based on how much fuel is needed for a given RPM.
Fuel delivery can be increased by providing injectors which can flow more CC per minute, increasing the presure of the fuel in the delivery rail or by widening the pulse.
The ECU control is commonly refered to as PWM - Pulse Width Modulation. THe pulse being the difference between on and off.
So, cleaning them in this manner seems a ransonable gambit. You are manually doing the PWM with the switch and power supply.
But I don't know just how effective. There are small filters on the injector inlets too which I's think the reserve flush in the video is attempting to clean out.
