1990 1.6i-16V Civic

Post by EllisG93 »

Hey guys, Just got myself a H reg, 1990 civic. It's the 1.6L 16 valve injection. I love it. When I first got it 2 days ago it had been stood for 2 years and it arrived at my house on a trailer; covered in moss and algi from the plant the lady left on it, haha. I spent 7 hours washing, polishing, jetwashing, cleaning the windows and hoovering out the insides. It needs a good respray as some of the paint is flaking. The breaks are currently seased on and it was a non runner. I spend the whole of today referbing parts of the engine, took out the alternator and opened it up to unsease it, 4 new spark plugs, new fan belt and a new rad. It started first time!
I'm only 16, 17 in July and I can't wait to get behind the wheel. Aparently they handle like a little sports car. I've got some pics so let me know what you think!
Also i'd like to see who can guess the closest to how much this babey cost me. The pics are after the clean and i'll upload some of the car before the clean etc.
Cheers guys!

welcome

doing the fan belt must have been a hard job
The fan belt wasn't that bad actually, just dropped the alternator out, the power cable into the alternator was the hardest thing to remove. Fitting it was a piece of piss

ermm, the mileage is about 170000, but it runs like a dream, had it started about 10 - 15 times now. Sounds awesome. It only cost me £100. Then 50 for a new battery and 10 for an alternator belt. :)

I don't wanna make it like a chav car that you generally see about. I fancy more of a stylish modding project, sort of;
lowered,
decent alloys because the ones on it atm are chewed. Erm..
Tinted rear windows,
probably spray it,
i'm not too kean on the silver colour, i've heard it's rare but its not for me,
I fancy pearl white or glossy black.
I wanna put a sub in the back, best mate is into car electronics so he'll help me. I'm about to go on a 14 week car modding course NVQ level 2 so that'll help me with the body work!
I'll start up a page on the "projects" board and put a link in. I think with help from you guys anything is possible!

sounds good bud apart from the tinted windows im just not a fan of them.
Would be a shame to respray as the paint looks to be in really good condition, but white is the best colour for them 8)

I love white, the paint is flaking on the rear bumper, and theres a few scratches from garden tools on the bonet from pervious owner, pretty deep scratches aswell, couple of mm deep. So I don't think it would do it justice to leave it the original colour to be honest. And when I say tinted windows I don't mean blacked out, I mean slightly tinted, like weak sunglasses
