Tyre company rant

Post by widowmaker »

I am looking for some tyres for my Prelude, yeh yeh yeh i have heard all the jokes before about stripping them for parts for your civic :P

Anyway my usual 'chatsworth estate' friend has let me down - he has gone straight

I have been phoning around looking for some Uniroyal Rainsport 2's, the call goes something like this

Me - Oh hello my name is Ed but you can call me Widowmaker, i cant afford a Civic vt so i bought a Prelude BB4 :D I am looking for some 205 55 15 Uniroyal rainsport 2's.

Assistant - we can do Kleber Ditchfinders, Barum Slipperies or Kuhmo RTA's for £55.00 all in.

Me - no i want Uniroyal Rainsports to match the others on the car

Assistant - mmmmmmmm i can get Avon Zv5's for £60.00 all in

Me - no thanks i would like Uniroyal Rainsports

Assistant - the Zv5's are good tyres

Me - aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrgggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhh

klebers are actually a pretty good Tyre, same compound and construction as Michelin energy's yeah sure they are not a performance tyre but far from a ditchfinder, they are made in the Dundee plant, i know this because i did my apprentice training with Michelin and spent some time in the factory

Those were not the specific tyres i was offered, i have nothing against klebers, just think that a 200+bhp prelude needs something better

You can get a pair on ebay, obviously you then need somewhere to fit them for you.

mate Christchurch tyres down the road are spot on - they'll get them in for you if they don't have them in stock and they are very cheap! They know me quite well as I seem to go through tyres quite quickly....
