91 ED7 Project

Post by Con »

Bought this 91 Red ED7 last February with 58k on the clock, the car is solid but there are a few dings which I'll get sorted. It could probably do with a blow over at some point as the red paint is past it's best on the offside Sad, it might polish out though. It could also use a new offside door at some point!

Apologies for the shocking pictures, can never get them decent from my N95, really need to buy a new digicam.

So far, I've added/replaced the following:

Momo Steering wheel
4 x Tyres (P6000 cack)
New steering rack + TREs
Energy Suspension Crossmember + RTA bushes
New O/S front caliper
Goodrich stainless braided hoses all round
New engine mounts (crap eBay ones that will need replacing with something of higher quality!)
New pads all round
Induction kit

I've recently purchased some goodies which I'll get fitted as soon as they arrive, or as soon as I've got some more cash:

MG ZS 180 Front calipers, VTEC Hubs, Mintex 282mm discs + Mintex pads
Rota Group N's (15")
Full Scorpion 2.25" stainless exhaust
Master poly bush kit

I also intend to fit:

Quickshift
Uprated shocks + springs or coilovers
Skunk2 adjustable top arms
Supersprint S/S manifold
Recaro Seats
Parada Spec II Tyres

If and when I stop driving up and down the motorway to Cornwall frequently I'd like to strip the car out and turn it into a track slag.
Breaking Red ED7, most parts available - can bring to japfest next weekend.

Looks very clean mate, a rare find with that mileage too.

Will be good to see some pics with the mods done.

How much did you pay for it if you dont mind me asking?

The pictures don't really show up the deamons!

The passenger door is badly dented in and will need replacing, hopefully I can get a red replacement??

there are a few other dings here and there, and the offside of the car must've been parked in the sun for years as it's lost its shine completely and will need polishing up at the least.

Maybe I'll have a go with the meguires 3 stage colour restorer once I get the rust sorted out (theres hardly any rust either tbh).

I paid £900 for the car, and have probs spent well over 1k on it now.

Cheers,

Con

big brakes installed.

Got a bit of updating to do now!

I've got fresh rubber on my new wheels now. In addition to this I've got the EF VTEC knuckles/hubs, with MGZS180 calipers and discs installed.

The lower arms have been rebushed with energy poly bushes, along with the ARB/end links.

Pics...

All finished! (Note i've kerbed my new wheels already :'(

The only bushes left to do on the front are the upper arm bushings, seemed no point in removing the shock etc as they'll be coming off in the next phase of mods.

When pay day rolls on I'm going to order:

-Skunk2 Pro Series Front Camber Kit
-Eibach lowering springs
-Koni Sport on car adjustable dampers
-Civic/CRX VTEC TREs (I cut the 16v ones down a bit too far :/)

Will do the upper arm polybushings, and as many rear polybushings as we have time for whilst we're at it then that should be the front suspension complete!

Not sure how they'd be for the VT only? The top arms are identical on the 16v and VT as far as I know? Certainly the skunk2 items are universal.

The reason I'm going with Skunk2 is because from what I've read they are the best quality and uncompromising product.

Im just quoting what Buddy Club told me when I rang them to enquire. I did think they were the same on both!

The Skunk 2 arms certainly look alot better!

Skunk2 Pro Series front Camber Kit - £170 from us ebay delivered.
