Re: EF9 *B18C bye bye*

Post by Tahir »

Tell me about it.

The plan originally was to sell the B18 which ive done and replace with a B20vtec consisting of:

Stock B20B block with a stock CTR head and internals. Then have it put together and use my old ancillaries from the ITR engine (IM,TB, EM, Exhaust etc) have it tuned and I would've been happy with 200hp + 150lbs/ft.

But now it's gone to another level.

I will update this thread soon, I have loads of pics from when I pulled the engine, and I will put my engine spec list up, it keeps changing though as i'm always adding stuff to it!

Well since there is a few quick N/A cars entering the Drag Series and my mate Sham having had a rather hefty upgrade done on his CRX I have to keep up. So this is my 2p.

Head:

B16B PR3 Cylinder Head
Buddyclub Spec 4 Cams
Buddyclub Cam Gears
Supertech Valve Springs
Supertech Titanium Retainers
ARP Head Studs
DNR Custom HG
NGK Plugs
Magnecore KV85 Leads
OEM stem seals, cam end seal, solenoid gasket, sump gasket and rocker cover gaskets etc

Block:

B20B3 Cylinder Block
Supertech Block Guard
RS Machine 11.5:1 84.5mm Cast Pistons
Scat H Beam Forged Rods
ARP 2000 Rod Bolts
ACL Duraglides
Full rotating assembly balanced
SiR pulley with PAS
OEM ITR Oil Pump
OEM ITR Water Pump
OEM ITR Timing Belt Kit

Intake:

Edelbrock Victor X Inlet
70mm Throttle Body
Hondata Insulating Gaskets
AEM Hybrid Intake with HKS Mushroom
Custom intake setup with velocity stack from modified headlight for drag

Fueling:

B16A2 Polished Fuel Rail
370cc Injectors
Sard FPR + Guage

Exhaust:

Hytech Big Bore Tri-Y (the real mccoy)
3" ProSpeed Exhaust (1 flexi, 1 midbox, mandrel bent)

Transmission:

S80 ITR Box (4.7fd)
ACT Street Extreme Clutch
Fidanza 4kg Flywheel

It might need a few bits changing or adding. DNR will build and tune the motor as I dont trust myself with so many expensive bits. I will get the engine bay painted in the meantime and a few other stuff changed then get the car trailored to DNR HQ when engine is ready to drop in.

Hoping for close to 240bhp and over 160lbs/ft.

Should be fun....

I will update in a bit with pics of when I took engine out.

I have a few bits already and deposit put down on lots more. Im saving and buying stuff whenever I can afford to.

Complete B16B sat here that needs taking apart, RS pistons, Scat rods, seals etc

I have a big order going in with H-Tune end of this month that should wipe a lot of stuff off that list (and my bank account).

Very nice, almost identical specs to what my plans where if I go B20, bar the exhaust system. I'll be very interested in how the BC Spec 4 cams work as I'll be using these whether I stay B16B or go B20.

Should be awesome/

Stew (Pierrot) made 217whp and 163lbs/ft with Cosworth pistons, Crower rods, P+P ITR head and BC4 Cams albeit tuned on S300.

That's 240+ at the fly and he hasn't even finished tuning it yet as he is making some adjustments to his fueling setup.

Also Sham has them in his built B18 and they absolutely go mental when vtec comes in, his isn't even dyno tuned yet.

Cool, I think they would be awesome in a B16B, I'm still really tempted to stay B16B, luckily I don't have to decide yet.

As for the exhaust, ive heard both sides of the arguement. However, my engine will be built and tuned by DNR and from his experiances all customers that are aiming for 220hp+ have been recommended 3" exhausts and they never see a loss on the dyno.

Should be fun going back to Charlie @ Prospeed anyways, great guy, great exhausts. Wonder what style tailpipe I am going for now, I fancy a change from the 5zigen Fireball design.
