ITR Valves, collets, retainers, guides and springs turned up from Marc today, thanks mate :top:

Fitted some magnecor 8mm red HT leads too. I'll put a photo up but everyone knows what they look like.

Picking up a b18cr bottom block next week. Wasn't planning on swapping the motor just yet, or even for a b18. I was weighing up (eventually) between a b20 or a b16b but having driven neither i couldnt make my mind up between the rev happy nature of the b16b or the power of the b20. So as it turns out i went for neither. A friend of a friend built a c4 block, b16 head with a very slight skim and ITR cams made 197bhp and 140(iirc)ft/lb so I'm expecting to see a little more from this one.

I'm going to leave fitting the 5zigen exhaust mani untill the swap over, and try get an ITR throttle body before then too.

My head is good, it doesnt smoke and is pretty clean on the inside but i'm tempted to buy another head. Get it port matched / polished and a slight skim too, this way i've got a more efficient head, just means i'd have to do valve steam seals as well. It also means i have a full b16 to sell and take some of the cost out of the conversion

Bill thinks he has one also T, if he doesnt though i'll give you a shout, your not that far away either. I have a full ITR drive train so that all needs doing anyway. Need to work out a time scale and funds and go from there i think.

Shift bush kit, hamp filter and shift extender came yesterday. Test fitted the shift extender to see what it was like, absolutely love it. Going to fit my skunk2 dual bend this weekend, along with the shift bushes, should feel awesome to drive then :drivegear:

Right, pictures to accompany previous updates.

Wheels

15" OZ Super Leggerras. Had been rattle canned black very quickly just to sell them.. 1 was badly corroded and 1 had a large chunk missing from the rim and a crack in it further round. I forgot to get a picture of the chunk and crack, but dropped it off at a welding specialist and they patched it up brilliantly, very happy with their work.

The Sh*t paint job.

Image

Flatted back, and coated with red oxide primer.

And the colour they came out.. The paint i bought was 'Dark grey', which in fairness it is if compared to, lets say white. I was going for anthracite but they turned out very light, I do however quite like the colour so i just pretend it's the shade i wanted. Picture is before clear coat.

Corroded wheel

Good as new, near enough.

Image

Quick test to see if the colour would work, i like it.

Image

Still haven't finished the wheels. Ran out of primer and haven't got round to getting some more yet. I'm in no rush as i have near brand new tyres on the VT alloys, rather get the use out of them first than rush around.

Short shift

Energy suspension shift bush kit finally came so i got round to fitting my skunk2 dual bend after work today.

All finished, Skunk2 dual bend short shift, tegiwa shift extender and razo gear knob.
Image

Took it round the block to test it out, feels brilliant. Shifting is lovely and smooth, short shift works brilliant and position from extender is brilliant too. Driving position is excellent now, really enjoy it. Just need some nice seats to set it off..

I hate flash, it makes everything look grey and over exposed and dirty. I will get some better pictures in day light tomorrow.

Test fit of the wheels look pretty good i think multispoke wheels suit a 4G civic IMO

cant tell how good the dual bend looks but must look cool seeing as its a dual bend :top:

I know, i was thinking about taking the boot collar off so i can slide it down. Not much point spending all that money on a dual bend shifter if no one can see it. It does drive very nice now though 8)

Yeah as long as its not covered and you can see it after all it is abit of a show item

I've attempted a Ferrari style gear panel just waiting for my short shifter and then will fit it :top:

That sounds pretty cool mate, look forwards to seeing it. I had a thought earlier, i have a GL gear gator in my garage and iirc they dont have a rigid color like the VT gator does, so could swap them over and pull it down slightly.

Gates ITR cambelt, blueprint tensioner and water pump bought today. Also picked up OE Honda head gasket and b16 head bolts. Gonna start the build tomorrow and hopefully have it done over the Easter weekend. I'm just keeping my fingers crossed that my 5zigen will fit the b18. I've seen b16 mani's not fit b18's before in the past, but that was a c4, i'm unsure if they're longer than a c6. I know the block is 7mm longer than a b16, but how much difference is there in the sumps.

Bringer of good news! Nice one pal, gives some hope. It does look very short in height compared to b18 Mani's so i will just keep my fingers crossed untill the time of fitting.

Off to pick up engine crane now, I'll update with pictures and progess later tonight.

B18cR build.

I'm absolutely nackered, put in 2 very late nights, went through copius amounts of gloves, biscuits, cigs and so on but it's in and 99% complete. Just have to go get change the map tomorrow, extend the lambda wiring (had no solder or heatshrink) and also the fan switch wiring.

As it was, standard b16a1.

New tensioner.

New waterpump.

All out...

..And on the garage floor.

Rocker cover off.

Beginning to strip down the head.

All cleaned up.

Valve seats before reseating.

..and after.

Installing ITR dual valve springs.

Valve springs finished.
Image

Cleaned the box up a little before refitting.
Image

Pulley from B18 was chipped in 2 places so I used the pulley from my b16. I also found shavings from calbelt inside the timing cover, and the timing cover it's self had been eaten by the cambelt.

Image

b16a1 fly wheel, and ITR fly wheel. ITR fly wheel is substantially lighter than standard, I didn't there would be 'that' much off a difference to be honest but you can definitely feel the weigh difference. Also has 3 bolts less, every little helps..
Image

Almost back together. B16a1 head with ITR Cams and dual valve springs pn ITR b18cR block.
Image

Ready to go in. Heat wrapped my 5zigen too. I was worried that it wouldn't fit but it does, just.
Image

Back in, forgot to take a pic when i was finished, was too glad to just get back inside and relax.

Haven't uploaded these video's to Youtube yet, at the moment they're on facebook but i have them set on public so you should be able to see them. Those without facebook, Youtube links will be up asap :top:

Idle. Can't hear the bass through the phone, as a result it sounds very farty, but in reality it has a very nice tone to it. https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=411383562222260" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Few blips of the throttle. Kept it to 3k and under untill it's been mapped.

That's all for now, I'll update with how it runs and video's once it's mapped.
