Yea...replace your MTF....does sound like your release bearing is a possibility too.
Noise could be the rear brakes as it's been standing for so long.

as you might have a silt build up /blockage
did the system boil up ? over heat at all , as the expansion tank is meant to be like a safety valve , and not let the pressure build up that hight
im not too sure
as i only noticed when i was taking the bumper off and had the bonnet open then after i drove it round down the road and back.
ill check the expansion tank.
so to flush it with a hose.. id need to get the hoses of the engine and go in the top one on the head, and come out below?

if it were my car i would sort the rad leak , tidy up the few other bits best i could and give it a good run down the motorway, the run should show up any major problems if any , did you change the gearbox oil? could be the wrong grade man , made the same mistake with my EF2 i put 80w/90 in and found it was very tight when cold , i since changed that and put 75w/80 with a treatment in instead works perfect now
best of luck with it anyway

it was done with the clutch, and i doubt they would use wrong oil
i cant take it for a blast, it has no mot/tax/insurance, and wont be able to until everything is sorted.

Bear in mind you have a cable shifter...
I bought all (well nearly all, some bits missing I need to source) the parts to beuild my shifter. My spare one is really loose too. They wear out. You need to make them good and tight again, also he cables can be adjusted. Rightly or wrongly.
Regards changing the sump gasket.
Good luck.
I wont spoil the surprise, just don't take anything off you can't get back on again when you have had enough of it
