Right, so it's been through quite a bit since I last updated.
But it's fair to say it's all done and on the road, driving brilliantly!
The other B16a was fitted with so many new parts, and put in the car, started first click, no smoking, ticking etc. The coolant system bled very quick.
Also changed the poly filled mounts on the car to some VGC OEM ones. So it makes for a more refined drive.
New engine back in:
Fitted a complete new bolt and washer set in the engine bay, replaced about 35 bolts and washers, small touch but makes such a big difference in person. Not a bad way to spend £3. New nyloc nuts for the ball joints too.
Fitted a new Hamp shorty and some fresh oil...
Also fitted a new power steering rack as the other one was still leaking, what a ball ache, but so much easier when you have a ramp. Doesn't lose a drop of fluid this one.
The give the car in to a bodyshop for some paint. Results were immense, looked spanking when I got it back.
Bought some of this that i'l be using this weekend when il give the car a full detail, doesnt need much due to the fresh paint.
Bought a new manifold and exhaust system, ITR 4-1 DC2 header and a modded (2.5" collector) SRS G55 exhaust system, sounds nuts. Gave it a good polish...
Fitted new decals, including OEM SiR gel badge...
Took it to ATS for 4 wheel alignment..
Everything was out..
Managed to get toe settings to 0 on all 4 corners. Dont have adjutable camber arms so couldn't adjust them but a bit of neg camber looks cool!
Fitted nice 12x6 number plate on front, looks better without though...
Before:
After...
Got OEM EF aerial delete from US eBay and fitted it...
Painted both sideskirts again as the buffer had caught them in a few places..
Took it to my mates garage, got both of our cars cleaned and washed for the Mimms meets..
Now the biggie, driving a car all the way to London and back (500miles) was going to be some ask for a car i've done 20 local miles in since basically building it up from the ground. Changing everything possible on the car, loosening and re tightening nearly every single bolt on the car.
Apart from a dodgy idle, which later turned out to be a dirty IACV it went there and back with out any issue at all. It drove so well, nice and straight, no pulling, surprisingly quiet with the bung in and rather quick too for a few choice mods.
Mission accomplished.
Pity it rained at Mimms and I didn't get to meet many 4G's there, bar Daz's B18 EC.
At Mimm's...
And back to Bradford after a very long and wet day, even in the rain the carwas brilliant!
The plate came loose on the way down as it was only taped on, but now ive put it on with some proper number plate screws...
Got a spare key cut for the new owner too.
I'm having the drivers bolster retrimmed by a local upholsterer and the rear coilovers, the bushes in the top mounts are squeeking a bit so i'm going to change them for some Energy ones i've got lying about.
And up for sale she goes
