Have you read this??

http://montrealracing.com/forums/showth ... 5966eff614" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Mentions the rubbing and modding required on the top arms. Looks similar to your kit ??
They talks about getting it even lower with shock tower mods.

Thanks dude
yea hopefully i can sort something

one thought ive had is are the EG lower arms longer than EF (could cause the camber issues people have) so im gonna measure up a friends EG frame that hes got off his car atm see if its transferrable into the EF

Id need smaller front tyres and then camber arms to get the front tyres sitting nicely again but id be less worried doing that if the front was wider out

id also need EG shafts but im not sure id find any to suit the auto box

need to do a LOT of research

Can you either:

1) do a diagram of the suspension and where it's rubbing.
2) take photos of the suspension and then draw on them where it's rubbing.

Then, list down in one post what suspension you've got up front.
eg:
91 D series hubs
Funky Monkey adjustable top arms
air ride EG shocks FX110045
89 D series bottom arms

Are you anywhere near kidderminister ?

Im in nuneaton so about an hour from kiddy i think

The front sus is all oe apart from the bags and the EG forks
the bag when inflated rubs on the hub about 2" below the top ball joint

What height do you want to drive at ?
What is your camber at that height from the vertical in degrees ?

I'm coming back to that thread with the mention of them having to mod the shock towers....

I want to drive it where i had the car static
And yea he mentions modding the shock and then nothing else happens from what i can see
thats the stage im at

camber wise i dont fully know ive not measure but id guess about 5 or 6 degrees from the natural arc of the arms

i cant roll any camber off as then my front wheels wont fit though

and i cant really do much in the way of modding the bags myself

Heres a pic today as i had the bumper off so could get into take a pic

Image

Tape was an idea to pad the leg slightly as a ghetto temp measure but was pointless really haha
Basically i need struts that are futher away at that point
eg hubs are straight where as these curve

is there a straight ef hub?

You get me some ideas down and I'll get you something CNC machined mate and it'll be better, stronger than anything. Sweet!

I dud consider going custom and lifting the bearing/brake mount in the hub to act like a drop spindle aswell but its a complex part to machine and doing it myself isnt an option like i could with smaller stuff

ive machined hub supports before haha

Can you not get a piece welded on the side furthest away from the strut and then chop chop away. (Bit like they notch chassis rails to lower cars, but notch the suspension arm to clear the strut)

This wouldn't be fabbing a whole new arm, just modification of what's already there.
Making perfection isn't always easy,

But I ain't got nothing but time!!!

Good pic. But can you take it further away so can see a bit more.
Want the lower arm in the pic too please.

Think I understand why he modded the shock tower and therefore likely the top arms.
To bring the hub away from the shock.

But if you can't get the wheels further out, then I think you're S*!t out of luck.

EG arms if are strighter? Custom top mounts to fix the camber a little better. Would your wheels still fit?
Then trim the inside of the shock tower and plate it back so that they have enough vertical clearance.

When the bag deflates I guess the rubbage is even worse ??

I wouldnt trust welding to the cast and removing as much as id need too really
the whole arm needs to change

i think a custom top arm is going to be the way to go with the EG hubs in place and shorter arms to correct the camber but then i may have issues with the fitting as thats why the top arms need modifying is to clear the airline running into the top of the bag

Deflated yes it gets a lot worse

Basically i need a different hub though

i think the teminology is causing issues though

when you say shock tower which part are you referring too
and im not trying to use EG arms its the hubs the bearing is in

A lot of things have been suggested so apologies if i seem short in any replies to people or seem an A$$ about anything its just slightly annoying going in circles sometimes with things that have allready been ruled out

I think i may purchase some tubular adjustable top arms as they would be slightly easier to modify and use EG hubs
