Those eBay VR6 splitters are junk. Think i went through 4 in like 2 months last year. Thats why i spent the extra on a power Civic Poly one!

Picked up a spare d16a9 from Ben on Saturday as I have had a bad feeling about mine ever since dyno day and wanted to spend some time cleaning and painting it to a decent standard.

Later that day this happened, again.

Oil pump failure is usually the case. Seems to be a weak point on the A9's especially if they have been sat for a while!

Thats a right bummer dude! Luckily youve got the other engine! Just means you might not be able to spend the time you wanted to on it before dropping it in!

It was the case of crank bearing failure in all 4 engines that i know of.. All have been running very very well for quite a while :top:

Naa, I reckon some gaffer tape and black paint on top, and nobody would ever know

In all seriousness dude, that is a bummer. You could clean and paint the other engine in a day though, just means you won't be able to refresh anything on it if you don't have the time.

On a side note, I managed to drive a Mazda 323 that was like that for 25 miles home. I didn't even cradle it home because it was going to be scrapped, so was doing 50-60mph. Sounded like a fighter plane as I was driving lol.
Making perfection isn't always easy,

But I ain't got nothing but time!!!

Bollocks. In all the ones I know of failing it has been a case of the oil light flickering on before engine failure indicationg a loss in oil pressure. First thing to go would naturally be the bottom end. Usually damages the shells and ruins the crank. I've seen 3 fail and this has always been the case.
