GL vs. 1.6 16v

Post by Soldier456 »

I had a GL a while back, and loved that thing alot! I just want to know if anyone has gone from a GL to a 1.6 16v, and what the difference was all round?

I had a gl before my 16v. To be honest theres not much difference except rear brakes, injection and more power :) The power difference is fun!

Its true that the 16-16 is faster in standard form, however it is quite easy and fairly cheap to get 125 + bhp out of a GL.

Watch this space

I've got both, and no, not really.

They both handle well, the Civic is more prone to lift off oversteer but it's easy to control, the CRX is less willing to go sideways, but goes quicker when it does.

I'd definatly say the CRX is more nimble.

Especially in the earlir 88's, they had rear wheel steering - sort of

welcome back Jinjur!

There should be a grudge battle - CRX's vs Civics and 16i16s vs GL. Didn't Dida mention another york raceway meet.

It would be much more interesting to watch.

IMO the VT civc is less twichy and more stable than a VT CRX but both are pretty equal in terms of speed as they basicallt the same.

I think you'll find that the CRX and Civic are just slightly different ways of doing the same thing, as Streaker said, with the same drive train. There isn't really anything to choose between the two performance wise in stock form in 'real-world' conditions. I would suspect that you could loose more weight on a Civic diet rather than a CRX one as CRX's have alot of glass, and not as much interior to junk as is possible with a Civic. A 16-16 vs. GL shoot out...hahaha...would be entertaining Widowmaker.
