Del sol siR AUTO to MANUAL 4G conversion
Hey people, this is something that has been going through my mind for a long time, i have spoken to si about this in the past, but just left it in the end. I would love to put my del sol siR engine into a 4G, but i am NO mechanic. Would anyone want to help me out with a conversion?

You will need ;
D to B conversion mounts. A d series 4G 1.4 or 1.6 is alot cheaper than a vtec.
Gearbox. Either cable from the VT or hydraulic and an adaptor kit.
Set of pedals
Lots more things, harness etc and lots of time and patience.
As far as I know the Del-slow engine and VT engine is the same externally so just the same as a VT conversion. Or buy a VT and just simply swap the engine and wireing to the ECU.
I'll be converting my auto this winter, but yours is easier because you have the complete donar vehicle to hand.
Surely your low milage SiR is worth more than the parts and car to convert

Are you saying my del sol is worth something? Well i have tried to sell it in the past, but no interest really for the money i want for it. I would be happy with £1500, but alot happier with a 4G with the heart of my Sol!streaker wrote: Surely your low milage SiR is worth more than the parts and car to convert
But like i said i am no mechanic, and don't earn alot of money.

Re: .
Because i would imagine it would be alot easier to drop into a VT than a GL or DX. And i said a VT with a bottom end knock because it would be alot cheaper to buy!meandmejulie wrote:im no mechanic, but ive done it... just plan loads and READ plenty on the net, all the info is there
why you need a vt with the bottom end gone

Start with a 16v..
Already FI, which saves you alot of hassle over a GL (trust me).
All you need to do to get your engine running in there is:
B-series engine mounts (not too expensive nowadays)
Hydro box conversion kit (and some pedals)
OBD0 - OBD1 conversion harness (and run a few extra wires)
Finding a VT with a bottom end knocking etc wont be easy, and will probably cost the same as a decent 16v.
Theres a nice silver one on ebay atm, check it out..

Brakes arent a big deal, easily changable..
However a fuel tank, pump, return lines, and wiring loom arent so easy (been there, done that)..
As for the body styling, well it doesnt really come into it right now - BUT for the record, IMO a 16v with a vtec front bumper looks miles better than a complete vtec front end its the 'perfect' front end for me..
Go for 16v, and dont even contemplate a GL. As for vtec, if you got spare cash, why not..
As for hydro -> clutch kit, 5th gen onwards civics (and integras) used hydraulic clutches, wheras our gangster 4G's use cable operated clutches. To use a 5G box, u need a conversion kit.
Or.. i forgot.. even easier.. just use a Y1/J1 cable box from a civic/crx VT or Teg XSi
