LittleJack's GL

Post by LittleJack »

Just a small update on the hatch. The D14 with the import 1.5 cam has now been removed and has had a D16z2 put in its place which other than smoking a bit (Possibly valve stem seals) runs really well ive just received a head gasket kit so the valve stem seals should hopefully be AOK afterwards, Also in the next few weeks i will hopefully have other parts fitted such as my wheels and my B&M short shifter so the old thing should be looking and running well for some shows, I will have to upload some photos soon once i have gotten my head around uploading photos  Big thanks to PikeyPete as without his knowledge and help i would still be trying to remove my 1.4 in the rain lol

Little update. The hatch has now had a B@M dual bend short shifter fitted, A twin cam bonnet fitted and also a 2.25 exhaust system from PikeyPete's hatch fitted. I have also been generously given a new engine which will eventually replace the Z2 but more on that soon... Many thanks to PikeyPete, Boz and Tobie for the parts and help on the car

Have now had the head on the z2 swapped for a replacement that has been skimmed, ported and polished with new valve stem seals and head gasket. Still smokes unfortunately but its better than it was, Many thanks again to PikeyPete for the help (most of the work as i'm useless)

Right here's an update with photos this time hopefully the link works as it's taken me far to long to figure it out. There's photos in here of different times in the build but the more i get used to uploading them the more i will be able to post separately with detail

The hatch when i first bought it had the Ronal turbo wheels and that ''Exhaust'' i quickly got rid of both of them as they really aren't my thing,The springs were included with the car so i will try them out on the car first as it is my daily but i can always buy some coil overs later on.

Other photos include general maintenance such as silicone spraying the window regulators as they were getting slow, Work on the car (Fitting exhaust, Short shifter And engine, Parts that i have bought for the car Mega jolt setup (PikeyPete and Sam Oughtons old setup) The twin cam bonnet, B@M short shifter, New wheels and tyres, Some spare engines ( one being a D16Z4 which will be fitted in hatch as soon as i have bought service parts and kindly asked Pete for help)

Sorry for all the () and ,'s but i'm just trying to keep things neat unitl i get used to the lay out of photobucket lol... Thanks for looking More to come :)

Update... The Z4 was in and running for a few weeks but it needed a head skim/change so i sent off a spare head for the work to be done. In the mean time the old head was removed and some serious wear/corrosion was discovered on one of the piston collars, The new head then came back... Me and Pete could see that not only had the bottom been skimmed but also the top...yeah... so with the combination of an incorrect head skim,Corrosion on the collar of one of the pistons and the M.O.T just days away i decided (With the mocking from Pete lol) to put the original D14 back as i needed the car. So it now sits with its original heart back in place i may swap it again eventually but for now its back to how it was with the minor difference of it running on megajolt and not the dizzy... More to come soon
