Matt's DA6 - High Comp b16a build - MOT passed.
Re: Matt's DA6 - High Comp b16a build - Homebrew ITB's
Trumpet tip to manifold flange is 350mm..
They'll be on a slight angle I'd imagine,( hopefully the angle of the inlet port) meaning diagonally there'll be more than 350mm, just. If they still don't fit, the trumpets can be shortened ever so slightly.
Unless anyone has other suggestions / input?

Cut n re weld is probably your best bet.

Re: Matt's DA6 - High Comp b16a build - Homebrew ITB's
Shorter trumpets would be the least work, refrain from using a thermal insulated gasket or what ever they are.
Re: Matt's DA6 - High Comp b16a build - Homebrew ITB's
It would be a lot of work to cut and reweld T, they inlets are not straight, they're all off at an angle. The only place would be to cut them off at the flange and re angle them all.
Why not go for a thermal gasket Lee, just the space issue or did you mean otherwise?

Space dude. As they are thicker.
Re: Matt's DA6 - High Comp b16a build - Homebrew ITB's
I assumed as much, but always better to ask in case things are over looked. I'll work something out when I've got them all in front of me. I've got a blox thermal gasket, I'd want to use it really.

Re: Matt's DA6 - High Comp b16a build - Homebrew ITB's
What's the otal length of them and IIRc the length to the plate?
You can calculate what RPM they were designed for to see if it'll match what you're trying to do.
Please x 100000 can I borrow the nut and top rubber washer from your parking pole/
I need to get one made and physically having an original makes that a heck of a lot easier !!!

I completely forgot about that. Certainly mate, are you able to collect it or would it need posting?nominous wrote:What's the otal length of them and IIRc the length to the plate?

Total overall length is 350mm, from where to the plate do you mean mate?
I'll get some measurements done when I get them. If they follow the laws of inlet runners, long thing runners make for good mid range power, shorter fan runners do well top end. A b16 IMO is a lazy lazy engine unless it's on song, so a little bit of extra power in the mids wouldn't go down a miss.

4 wire 02 subharness and CEL flash wires. Run through a toggle switch, the same as grounding D4.

OBD1 Dizzy plugs, for making a jumper harness. The big plug can be re pinned easily, but the small 2 ping plug cannot be re pinned. Instead of modifying my OE loom I thought this was the neatest way to do it.

Re: Matt's DA6 - High Comp b16a build - MOT passed.
Has been a while since this has been updated, things have changed.
The car is in the unit up on stands, stripped down ready for a full new underseal. I have sourced some new arches from another DA that was being broken. My arches aren't in bad shape, but they're beginning to show bubbles. I intend to get the car a full paint job anyway so it makes sense to get new mint arches put in and not risk the rust coming back.
Engine plans have changed. The high comp engine build was 99% done, I even swapped out the ITB's mentioned previously for a TWM set and was then offered something at the other end of the scale, a centrifugal supercharger. Naturally the High comp B16 was now of no use (I calculated 12.8:1ish), so I have sourced a 68K KM SiR engine. I dont want to boost the original motor in case the unspeakable happens, I'd like to be able to put the car back to standard condition (matching numbers)
I've sourced some more parts too, of which I'll forget most.
D1 snap off boss
NRG boss spacer
Personal Grinta (leather)
Spoon springs and shocks
New rear bumper and custom rear lip
A new hole free parcel shelf
Full set of mudflaps.
Hondata s300 ecu (only need the s300 board, ECU is obd2a)
Mugen MF10Ls
Braided brake lines
Still lots more parts to get, big brake kit, gearbox (either rebuild J1 w/ LSD or s80), still to decide on seats and a few other little bits.
