Re: Project errrr.....Interior swap n just update
Bit of everything update...
So went to see Ernie a while back. Left with a few parts to play about with....
Got Stance
Car is jacked up hense being so high im not really one for stance but can never refuse a bit of quality kit 20mm H&R Hub centric spacers Gotta say the H&R part
Anddd now onto the reason the car is jacked up...
I found some rot in the inner rear wheel arch someone had repaired previously, but not done a very good job So i chopped out half the car being abit OTT as i am
Bit of surface on the inner
New panel to be welded in
After all rot was chopped out went alot further than the rot to be sure i was back to good mental hense the HUGE amount missing
Also shot blasted the entire bottom of the sill where the spot welds are and the jacking point at the back. Big mistake to shot blast without wearing gloves or any mask or eye protection believe me
Now alittle of the very rear section of the inner part of the sill was pitted and tad rotten, so i choped a big section out and welded in a new plate
Welded up the rear inner bit you can see how much i chopped out OTT like i said but at least it wont be rotting anytime soon. This is just rough al welds were smoothed out full thing cut to better shape and all acid etch primed. Was on abit of a role at this point though so didnt get any pics hate stopping and starting when welding not to mention feck me was it a hot A$$ day to be welding
Inner arch plate made up
Rear arch panel tac'd into place
Carried the lip up a little past the bump strip as there was some discolouratoion to the lip. thought feck it may aswell do it aswell.
All welded in, welds ground down and etch primed no filler or anything just weld and panel.
Little bit rough at the top as i remade the lip section but nothing a skim of filler cant solve. looks worse as there is a fair bit of paint on the car dude it having been repsrayed at some stage.
inner arch panel done, welds still needed grinding down at this point
Seam sealer going on
Also big patch i did on the sill itself. when i bought the car originally there were two small 3" by 1" patches on the sill about 2" apart. So naturally i chopped out a whopping 14" section and welded in a piece from a spare repair sill panel i had.
Also you can just see some etch furth down the sil that was actually a tiney bit of bubbling only just coming through the paint i figure meh rust from inside out.....only it hadnt done that inside the plate was mint so i should have just shot blasted it n sprayed but ah well live and learn so welded in some more sill repair panel Ill be damned if this car is going to rot any time soon
Also forgot to say panels all acid etch'd inside then welded, welds grinded down, everything kurusted, then acid etch'd, then high build. then seam sealer. after which inner arch and sill will be sprayed again then Hammerited then shultz then undersealed.....just to be safe
Car should out live me
