RED GL * Trackday *
Re: RED GL *Now with full stainless exhaust system*
Yesterday I had a new stainless centre section custom made by my local exhaust shop. It's a flexi joint from manifold and 1 mid silencer. So now i have a full stainless system Here's a quick vid of it going through a small tunnel. Video dosnt do it justice, it's sounds much nicer and louder in person

Re: RED GL *Now with full stainless exhaust system*
New bumper arrived the other day and i had a morning off, so to work with the rear.
Bumper off and cut off the knackered number plate bracket
While the bumper was off, thought some underseal was needed
New bumper and number plate bracket on, still missing a fog but hey
Thanks to ernie for supplying the bumper

Re: RED GL * new rear bumper*
Get the front bumper painted same as the rear and your good to go Would be something differant
I like what you did with the rear plate..how'd you shorten the holder?

Re: RED GL * new rear bumper*
Cheers mate. I cut the brackets off the original holder and welded a new shorter plate in the middle. Then drilled 4 new holes and mounted it in the middle of the gap
Re: RED GL * new rear bumper*
Looking good mate, black bumpers are where its at.
Re: RED GL * Trackday Prep *
Been a while since i updated, so i thought i would post something
I'm going on a trackday at snetterton 300 on the 24th of this month. So I thought i might aswell get on with buying the parts and doing the things that i want/need to do anyway. Still need to get a few other things and waiting for some other parts to arrive, but here is what i done got/done so far.
Front and rear upper braces
Engine oil and filter, brake fluid, rear brake shoes, ebc green stuff front pads and a magnetic sump bolt. Still waiting on front discs to turn up
I have also bought some tein basic coilovers off eg6flex (as i'm rolling on standard atm) they should be here on tuesday. The only things left to do is to source a bucket and harness and get the tracking done, once i've fitted the coilies.
More to come soon

Discs are here
Brembos have a 4 week back order everywhere, so these were next in line, they will have to do.
Coilies should be here tomorrow

Re: RED GL * Trackday Prep *
I have had a very productive day. I went down to friends garage this morning to borrow his lift.
Jobs done:
-Oil and filter changed, with magnetic sump plug fitted
-New front brake discs and greenstuff pads fitted
-New rear brake shoes fitted
-Front and rears both bled with new fluid
-Ignition Advance and timing
I also fitted my tein coilies at the weekend. I gave it a nice drop, but not too much as most of the roads around my way are appalling.

loving the build man gutting about the bump keep up the hard work its coming along real nice
Re: RED GL * Trackday Prep *
I spent a couple of hours refurbing my fibreglass sparco bucket at the start of the week.
I used to have this in my car last year, but i took it out because it was quite uncomfortable. With a track day coming up, i thought it would be nice to have a bucket, to stop me falling out of the standard seat every time i go round a corner.
I bought some 1" thick foam and cut it to fit an stuck it down with impact spray glue.
Before
After
Also sprayed the back black (white before) Then my kind mum sowed in some elastic around the edge of the cover, as it was attached with velcro before and it was very loose. It is still not the tightest of fits but it will do. It is now very comfortable and quite snug. I have just got make some new brackets to fit it to the runners, as i used the old one for something else.

Some pictures from the trackday pits. Should have a few to come of me on track.
I was so surprised what stuff we could overtake. I was thinking that mine and my mates ej9 would be the slowest things out there. On the straightaways there was no point in trying be through the corners we had tons of stuff. Mr2, is200, astra vxr and a porsche boxter just name a few with people looking at are cars in the pits and saying 'what you running...b16 b18?' We reply d14's ^.^ the look on there faces when we popped our bonnets. Who needs power when you got a well set up car. I wanna do another.
