Jasons b16 EC9 fix up

Post by jase »

Hi, as you may have well seen or heard around facebook of this car i wont remind you of its horrific past owners history of destroying the cars very being lol

Picked the car up down Cardiff off Ryan for what i thought was a bargain price of £900...oh how i was wrong.

Iv done a few jobs since i got it and will continue to make it as safe as i can in the coming months.

So far i have...

Replaced the radiator with a vt one as it had a bodged in d series one which was doing..basically feck all.
Took (ripped) the drivers seat out that had been poorly welded to the floor, it was leaning everywhere and the welds look like barry chuckle had done them after a 3 day bender.
Fit a standard GL/1616 or whatever it happens to be back in with standard rails so its alot safer to drive.
Replaced the terribly blown and basically shite exhaust off and fitted a standard vt one. Have my mate who is making me a custom spec2 style one next week.
Replaced the ill fitting luke harnesses that were in with a genuine 4 point TRS, feels alot safer to drive again.
Changed the sump and oil pickup, sump was battered to feck and in turn had damaged the oil pickup inside, car was basically short on oil constantly which im hoping hasnt done any damage...still runs anyways!

Jobs still to do these coming weeks include:

Remove the custom bodged in bucket seat from the passenger side and fit another standard seat on standard rails.
Fit some standard vt seatbelts.
Either buy a gel battery or replace the cables on the one thats fitted (behind drivers seat) and get a box for to cover it (possibly create some kind of venting system for it.
Remove the coilover sleeves which has fucked what id suggest is all four shockers, just waiting on my MeisterR zeta s arriving next week.
I have an oil leak, so i need to find the source sooner rather than later.
Valve clearances need done.
Fit a nice new clean black cam cover.
Nearside wheel bearing needs changed.

Thats about all i can think of at the minute. i'll try get some pictures on of how it sits currently but im having troubles remembering my photobucket password lol

Thanks

Jason

Looks like you have a very busy summer, will look forward to the progress in your build. So many people destroy these cars, they will be hard to find 10yrs from now. :top:

Decided to get myself a black garnish for the car, i did plan on just having no garnish after i bought the osaka spoiler but hey ho, garnish is on anyways for now...

Currently battling with the interior loom, im guessing routing it to even look slightly tidy was just never considered when it was put in. Pins keep falling out the plug for the rear lights which annoys me no end, will have to tape or glue them in somehow. i was thinking just plug them in and then fill the gaps with silicone lol

Another problem i have is the drivers window, i had the doorcard off and had a look round, couple small bolts needed tightened to keep motor in place etc but the window still seems to fall off its runner, either that or id say the motor is missing teeth? Any ideas on common faults would be greatful. Never had this problem with my old ed7! I do miss him!

We can extend your loom if you want? Be able to route it neatly that way. I've got s hot glue gun n all if you wanna sort the plugs out.
