I think that's the main issue Lucas. Filthy oil, poor maintenance, etc. On the ones I have seen fail, after removing the sump the gauze on the filter pick up was always pretty clogged with crap.rallyeluke wrote:sorry to hear about your engine man ;( I dont know how you boys do it though?? how many miles was on the lump? and how often did you change the oil in it? A bit of oil starvation to the pump seems to cause the pump to fail almost instantly then see you later bottom end!
The first engine in this car was not the original and when I bought it off Stew, he admitted that he had no idea of the history of the engine and it had been sat for a while. That went bang (bottom end) and then I supplied Luke with this engine which I got off Chapman. We knew it had done 150k plus miles but again it had been sat for a while and we had no idea of the history. Same issue again, bottom end failure.
