Can you press the actual ball cup from the rectangular slide?

No i already had a look at that. Its a no go as the ball joints have a flat plate cast into them. So its one piece sadly :(

I have seen that style available for other cars. On the web, searching for bearings for the top & bottom arms.
I figured I'd look for them if I ever came across a cheap set of arms with busted bearings.
Or get I'd plate machined up and just press in a round cup.

if it's just the upper ball joint as opposed to the whole arm, I bought a pair from crx uk. Seem to be available as the upper arms are feckin dear! only problem I've had with them is the socket where it fits into the arm has become worn and now needs whole arm replacing. In fact ebay

walsh123 - how many km/miles they lasted for you ? mine (both!) died completely afer ~ 1000miles :/ fortunately s2 had some on stock..

- didn't install new ones yet - but heard that they come without enough grease inside.., and also boot may not be sealed properly so dust can enter inside ball joint and cause this premature failure, check that when you get new set !

Just so you guys know, I have the CyberSpeeds Ball Joint.
Great quality item that we have been using for a while on all our products.

Due to some legal reason, we are unable to offer the CyberSpeeds arms anymore.
But we are able to offer the ball joint, and they fit straight into a Skunk2 arms. :)

We have them in stock, and they are £45 each.

Like I say, spend some time on one of the chinese ball joint companies websites and you'll soon find what car these are designed for - or them willing to sell the generic design to anyone.

90quid is ridiculous.
They'll be a tenner as a sample from the manufacturer.

Measure them and ask the manufacturer to look through their range.

The replacement isn't a generic ball joint that you can buy from any motor factor.
It is a complete replacement including the bespoke backing plate and bolts.

It is about the same price as a roll centre adjuster, and those are just an extended ball joint that you actually can buy from any manufacturer.
It isn't cheap, but Skunk2 ball joint is about the same price and they are not in stock.

Only because you don't know what car it's from. Assuming it is from an OEM vehicle.
Ball joints come in all shapes and sizes for OEMs, with many having metal protrusions.
This is no different to other styles available.

If it's been made to a specific spec, then one just needs to find the manufacturer.
No surprise that Skunk2, Cyberspeed ball joints fit.
They are all using the same supplier - far east manufacuring.

There is nothing special about it at all - just don't know the part number of the manufacturer.
I'd like to see one with the boot removed to see if it's a full cup or has a U taken off the cup at either side to stop binding - like the OEM Honda joint does.
Might also suggest if it's been designed or just bought off a shelf for a different application.

The roll centre adjusters are no different. Just got to track them down too.

Here is a good start:

Ask them about a spare ball joint part...

Ooooh looky here:

Older skunk2 ball joints:

So the older ones look like they didn't even have the cut out in the cup.
The pro series now do:

Image

No wonder they were failing
Suggests they might have been an off the shelf part intended for lower mounting.
If it doesn't have that cut out, it's a question of when it fails not if.

It'll be binding your suspension and stopping it from travelling fully when lowered a fair amount - why people often buy these to fix camber when lowering.
It'll make things worse not better.
Crap products.

Pointles buying any of these adjusters till you see a cut away picture, or photo without the boot attached so you know it's going to work properly.

They are all the same with different logos...

More so, they look like standard ball joints pressed into a metal plate.

Someone with busted ball joints that look like the above please send me them.
I'll take them apart, photograph and see what can be done about replacing them with off the shelf parts.
