ARMAGEDDON - THE END OF MODIFYING CARS!

Post by VIP »

Read this and act now!

This isn't scaremongering, it's not spam, it's no chain e-mail!

This S*!t just got real, and could render every car on here illegal within the next two months.

I read all of it and still don't get what its about. Maybe making the MOT a bit stricter but thats all I got.

I gather from what I read that if a car is not as O.E spec then it will fail the mot. How this can possibly be enforced is beyond me though???

This new legislation is due to be read by EU Parliament and EU Court in October, and without objection them becomes Law. It's already passed the previous stages.

In case you missed it [which you obviously have] it states that in the 'roadworthiness test', vehicles are checked against the original Type Approval for the model when it was first released, and will fail if any component deviates from this specification.

Go bury your heads if you want to, I'll be the one saying 'I told you so' in November.

Even if it becomes law, there will always be ways round it, MOT places 'bend' the rules all the time.

It may become more awkward to own a modified car, but thats all.

All i got from that, is vehicles that are not standard. will face a secondary road worthyness test. Or in my eyes, a new form of MOT (Like Class1, Class2)

Good idea in a way, Will stop people bodgeing

Well the 'modifying' scene is worth a good chunk of change in VAT, nothing will change.

Also try and find the OEM specs for each of our individual cars of which I hasten to add were built in Japan.

For one they will never get the og specs, not for cars of our age that arent even built in the country.

Stevie wonder does my mot anyway so I couldnt care less.

We have this discussion every year.

I know Belgium have very strict rules, as do other EU countries, but we are the UK, we like to distance ourselves from the masses and don't conform to these types of things. It won't happen, but MOT's will get more restricted as time goes by, that much is obvious.
