My EF9!
Hi guys, I thought I'd start a little project thread for my EF9, as it's going to be a work in progress for a while yet before I'm happy with it.
I picked it up a few weeks ago and couldn't wait to get started.
The rear N/S wheel bearing was totally gone, so as soon as I got back I got a replacement sorted and fitted it myself. While it was up on the ramp I had a proper poke around underneath and was super chuffed to find that it's totally solid underneath! The paintwork is pretty rough, it's been poorly resprayed at some point, which is now peeling quite badly in places (the roof is the worst!). Hopefully I'll get enough spare cash next year to get it properly resprayed.
So, next on the cards was to get the suspension sorted.
This is what it looked like when I picked it up:
Still on standard suspension, lucky I have some shiny new Tein Super Streets! This is how she's looking now:
While I had the hubs off at the front I swapped them for another set with 282s installed, which instantly feels much better over the standard brakes. I also fitted a standard B18C4 manifold that I had lying around, as I heard that they can give a decent little gain over the standard B16 manifold. As my Teins are fork fitment I had to swap the JDM LCAs out, so while I was doing that I also fitted a Tegiwa Beaks replica tie bar. I'd read that these can have fitment issues, but no problems here. The only other thing to do was to get new tyres fitted to my Rays RB Champs and get them on in place of the Rotas. I've gone for a set of Uniroyal Rainsport II, I've read good things about them and after a few good days of driving in heavy rain I have to say that I'm very impressed!
Interior wise, I've just fitted a fairly cheap Sony head unit (one with a AUX input in the front) and I also swapped the standard steering wheel for a nice genuine Nardi wheel that I've had for a while, much better!
Next job I've got is to give sort out the leaky sump gasket, give the car a full service and fit the Evo IV Recaros my lady picked up for me as a Christmas present! Lucky me!

Glad this went to a good owner!
What's the rust on the pillar actually like?

The rust on the rear pillar? It's pretty minor, I suspect it's where moisture has just got under the paint as it's solid, just a bit bubbly. When it goes into the shop to get sprayed I'll get everything rubbed back and sorted properly!

Glad it has gone to a good home.
It already looks so much better with the new alloys.
This would have been EF9 number 3 for me if I had some parking space.

Thanks Tahir!
I must say after being a CRX owner I was a little unsure of how I'd get on with the EF9 shape, but I'm completely won over. It's very useful having proper seats in the back too!

Re: My EF9!
As everyone has said, glad it's going to be looked after.
And I bet it's nice to find that generally, the Civics don't suffer the horrendous rust issues the CRXs do
And yes, CRX rear seats are useless (unless you're a contortionist.... and a midget)

Re: My EF9!
Not any power plans yet, I just want to concentrate on getting the paint sorted. The B16A that's in it at the moment runs very sweet too, pulls very well and I can't get over how quiet it is! Would love to get an LSD box on there though...Tahir wrote:T'is a great little design the EF Hatch.
Any plans?
Cheers dude! I was certainly very pleased not to see any rot underneath, although I wouldn't necessarily say that the CRXs suffer from more rust that the Civics. My friend Neil has an absolute minter of a CRX, no rot at all, and I know from CRX UK there are some really clean cars out there. I guess being a Japanese import and not having spent 20+ years on the salty UK roads certainly helps!EF_Russ wrote: As everyone has said, glad it's going to be looked after.

Re: My EF9!
Got yourself a nice motor there. Good to hear it's gone to someone that's going to take care of it.
