Help...

Post by *Jonnyg* »

Hey guys, kinda stuck here what 2 do.

I've just lost my job today, ( was only temp work ) .. But i currently own a civic and a crx, the insurance runs out on saturday for the crx, But i bought the crx as a donor car, for a crx shell which is in hull, and swap everything over.

Heres the problem;
The civic needs welding, new arch on it (which i've got )
new bumpers, and a respray.
I've only just taxed it, and has mot till jan.
Only gets 100 miles to 20quid.

The 2 crx's ..

The donor is rotten, the rear side has bin replaced, it use 2 be red and now is black but paint is pealing,
The crx has a fob and alarm thing, does 150miles to 20 quid, 150 quid extra to insure.
The crx shell, needs a engine, mot/tax and has slight bubbling on rear arch and little hole above windowscreen..

So.. What do i do?

Put the engine in the civic, and have cheaper insurance aswell as good on fuel?

Or have a nice crx, which is more to insure but wont need a full respray, but needs mot and tax and a engine..

The shell has only do 80k, and inside is mint! Donor has done 117, and civic done 130k

first off you need to decide if you want a Civic or a CRX, then if you choose CRX, go for the best shell. tax you can cash back in off the Civic if need be, and an MOT is only £40-50

Give me the crx's

Personally i prefer the CRX's so i'm biased. I'd pick the best shell out of the lot though, welding and painting are the most expensive and difficult to do. Engine stuff is quiet easy on these old cars.

I think cost wise the crx would be best as if the paint is ok thats a huge cost saved over the civic, even cheap paint jobs are expensive and will look awful.

Be a man and do the civic, CRX's are for girls :P After all that hassle doing the damn suspension

If you can arrange to do the swap where the shell i could help you out doing the engine swap after work mate :top:
