I was going to do this up in secrecy but thought Nahh project thread !!! :OD

Ill apologise for the lack of pictures now.

Not making it because im bored at all

Anyway i went all the way down to see Adam recently...About a 500 mile plus round trip

Image

The idea was for the car to stored on the trailer in the trailer garage, so i cut some holes into the mud guards on the trailer so they could be removed more easily. As the trailer didnt really fit in the garage as it was too wide with the guards on  meant we had to basically take a run up to squeeze the trailer through the doors.

So in theory without the mud guards i had about an extra inch at either side, as i didnt fancy trying to take a run up to the garage with the car on the trailer

Only thing i didnt thinkof was the weigh of the car affect the geometry of the trailer suspension  Basically enough camber to make Hella flush boys blush  So the trailer wouldn't go in the garage :x Me and a friend tried to shove it in for about 40 minutes but no luck.

So in the end i got annoyed and thought sod it hooked the concerto back up to the trailer and basically rammed the trailer throught the doors into the garage   scary moment was when the front wheels started to spin when it was half way through, but managed it still 8) 122 japanese horses beat 2 man power it seems

Anyway enough writing heres some rubbish pics to show how snug it all fits

The tiny steering wheel, and huge hole flinstone style Yo :OD

Image

Also as we had it thought id see what Jades mounteney wheelwould look like

Image

Image

Too much red

Front panel just placed on i really want to get started on it but, finishing the 4th gen first.

Image

The engine 1.5 fuel injection should be fun

Image

To do list....everything

Its not too bad really:

clean out interior remove everything.
Grind out ALL rust in the floor lready have sheet metal with it Adam provided.
Weld up the floor with some help from a friend what better to learn on :D
Remove all sound deadening
Paint whole floor with red zinc galvanising spray then black hammerite.
its doesnt really need it but if im doing it im doing it properly so
New sills and arches
Cut out a few little bits of rust on the A pillar and weld in some sheet metal.

Engine seems to run fine but could do with a little tune as it idles a little high.
New battery as the one in it isnt holding charge
Service
Thats it engine wise really.

Remove all supension
wire wheel it al paint with Hammerite black.
Lastly new windscreen and respray

Pretty much everything will be done by me as cant afford body work costs, hense the 4g looking like nelly the elephant, might even have a go at respraying it myself but thats in the very distant future

Will probably do some more bits and change some things etc aswell along the way. Just a rough to do based on a quick nosey around it :)

I should be putting this one back on the road aswell hopefully :D

Lol!

It was sad to see the 3G go unfinished.

But it was the first time after watching one of my cars go that, my Mrs actually asked me "Are you ok?"

I'm glad its gone to a good home, I wanted it to go to someone who is not scared of putting in a bit of effort, good luck with it and if you have any questions let me know :top:

Haha it was the end of an era for you man but ill do my best to get it road legal again :top:

It shouldnt even cost that much to do really as its just welding. Its just finding the time and having it somewhere with electricity as the garage its in doesnt :(

I just went on Retrorides yesterday and some of the cars they do up on there make this look like a walk in the park

I had a rumage around it at a service station found LOADS of random stuff, a dolphin lighter about 6 Cd's all with dance music on a Halfords name badge, there was a hat in the front panel and also a top in the back of it also about a million Hoses

Yeah it was a shame Adam couldnt finish it.

I havent thought about mods too much as there so much else that needs sorting beeforei can even get to that. But i have a few plans just lower with some nice wheels and maybe a back box just simple things really.

I might make up some custom braces for it aswell b pillar bar etc but wont be until ive finished the body work :)

Great save Walsh!

Its a shame other commitments came between this and Adam, however its clear to see he made sure it went to a good home.

I've had two GT's in the past and they were both cracking. What they lacked in straight line speed, they made up for by turning every corner into pure joy. When set up correctly they can even make perfect drivers cars =)

There aren't many "standard" examples left of these, they've all seen engine swaps.
However if you were looking towards getting some more power in the future, then maybe I could suggest something based on this:
