should I buy this 4g civic

I am looking to buy my first car and hav found a 1990 civic dx 1.3 auto matic the boy said it is running well it has 2 months tax and mot till december it has done 142000 and is local he's wanting £375 what do yous think ?

sounds about right price wise. DX's hold there value quite well as they tend to be quite clean and are tintop and the lightest model civic 4G

take it for a test drive and check it out.
things to check... CV joints, suspension, brakes, bushes, and most important RUST - around the rear arches, sills, bumper mounting places and inside the boot. make sure all the panels are lined up as a lot of had some damage

im sure you could knock it down a few quid :top:

For that price (or a bit less) i dont think you can go wrong.

Mechanicals are cheapish to repair

As Marc said rust is and always will be the enemy of 4g's

Ok cheers guys a think I'm going to see it today is 142000 bad milage for 1 of these ? I'll let you know how I get on

142k is no major problem if it has been serviced regularly, one chap on here (Oldskool) had done well over 200k :top:

Have a drive see what you think, we are here to help !

Anyone local you can take as a 2nd pair of eyes/opinions as sometime you forget to check something :top:

For a 1st car you really should get a manual.

As has been said check for rust mainly.

Also might seem daft but people do forget this have you gotten a quote for the car already ?

As im guessingif its your first you are young and it wll be expensive i coudnt afford mine :shock:
