91 Jap Crap

Post by *Jonnyg* »

Hey guys, this is my 1991 Civic GL 1.4 dual carb. Picked it up on Thursday night, with FULL service history.. Mot till jan next year, Paid 425.

Only bad news, i took 1 photo and my phone gave up.. I've saved the picture on my memory card, so still got photo! The paint work was like sandpaper! And a very matt colour, no shine at all!

This is photo i've got anyway.

Anyway, after a serious jetwash! And alot of tcut... 8 hours later

Only photo i've got so far! Also put my orange bulbs in for sidelights, and my yellow headlight bulbs! Will be polishing it tomorrow, depending on weather! :)

You should be able to get a cheap clutch kit from local autofactors last time i checked it was around £100 for clutch pressure plate and release bearing. You will probabaly get it cheaper online though check ebay.

Also what makes you think its going try adjust ing the cable before buying anything

Is this the cable in front of the gearbox? What tools are needed?

Right, i've seen the honda adjustment page.. Which way do i turn the nut? The biting point is right at the top of the clutch... So do i need 2 tighten it, for the clutch biting point to be lower?

Yep thats the one bud

No tools needed. im not sure which way you need to turn it

But if turning it right didnt do much undo it. You will need to turn it a few times for it to make a noticable difference.

Have you tried turning it to the left ? as if it gets worse going to the right it can only get better going to the left or make no difference.

If the clutch has gone dont worry too much its not very hard or expensive to change if you were going to do it your self.
