Just a few mm thick of ally plate over the area under the sump. Something else to dent...
You're in the right place to be finding ally sheet. It's aint hard. I'd DIY it !!

But if the ally plate is welded to the bottom of the manifold and it hits a bump, wouldn't it also bend the tubing in since they are welded together.

Some thing a bit smaller that that might do :)
I used tooling grade ally plate, its tough stuff and wont bend too handy :top:

i would worry more about how you're going to weld ally plate to a stainless steel manifold and then later think of the tubing bending lol

why dont you go for underbody strut, and modify it alittle with a plate, that way you dont weld your manifold,
plus its (the strut) better for handling and gives your car rigidness.

have a look at rally cars, they often have an extended sump protector.

For a start that is definately not you who wrote that lol.

Cue, if you mean a H brace, they dont do them for the EF AFAIK. The Front lower Cusco strut brace sit very low and would get bashed the hell out of.

Big165, that is a brill idea but seen as it is under the crossmember, I can imagine how close that would be to the floor on an EF!!! But it is worth looking into.

Mine is on a box iron frame to support it, as it goes a good bit back to brackets on the chassis legs
which pushs it down even futher, but even with the older smaller steel version
it ground out badly when landing from jumps and on badly cambered country lanes

But for a road version you could try pick it up from the back of the front cross member
and hopefully that will give you more ground clearance
and you will only need a small section to cover the exhaust manifold

Try go for tooling grade, as lighter stuff like ally checker plate bends too easy

Mine was an off cut from a local supplier, so it made it a bit cheaper

I've got thick stainless steel plate welded to the bottom of my manifold, I've had no problems, its really strong, its taken quite a few scrapes and bashes and the manifold is still the correct shape.

Obviously a really hard hit off a curb would likely bend it, but thats not going to happen unless you do something stupid.

Nice Wheels, however they are not nicer than the Volks, I'm guessing you are keeping them though so you can swap around?

Volks will stay, dont think I could ever sell them. My fave wheels they are after all, not much beats the TE37 imo.

I fancied a change in the looks department for when she comes back out, I think they will look great.
