Street Stock Drag series.

Post by Daz »

Some of the Civiclife members may have seen this over there.

Link http://www.civiclife.net/board/index.ph ... rag-class/

There is also a thread about it on the Santapod forum under the HKS series

Link http://www.santapod.co.uk/forums/viewto ... ?f=5&t=151

A few of us on here (Tahir, myself ,Sham) have put our names forward for this.

A breif run down is that Lou at TDI is trying to put together a Drag race series for Normally Aspirated FWD Honda's keeping it street legal and hopefully cheaper than a full blown MSA sanctioned event. Cars will have to MOT'd and road worthy.

There will be some form of weight limit/CC/power output etc regs in place to make it as fair as possible so that D16's can race and be competitive against say the K20 boys etc

The rules have not been defined as of yet, I had a good conversation with Lou today regarding this and have offered him a hand in making this happen.

The main idea is that any fwd nasp Honda with an MOT can drive to the track sign on and race in a championship against other similar cars earning points and having fun, im sure the idea is to have some form of prize money and/or Trophies for the competitors.

So for thus guys that love RWYB and want to race in a series, but cant afford a full blown race series like HKS, pro street euro compact etc with there MSA regs for roll cages and so on.

No race license should be needed, just a helmet, and appropriate safety wear.

Cages shouldn't be needed unless faster than 11.5.

Tyres will be some form of E or Dot approved (this is to be decided) but Slicks will be prohibited.

If this is something you SERIOUSLY would be interested in please get your name down, the aim is to have this ready for the 2011 season.

i thought it was going to be staged so its more about driver skill than all out power?

as imho limiting it to needing a 12 second car would be boring as theres only a handful.

That's how Bill sold it to me.
It was no turbo's. Different engines got different handicaps. So made D series seem very appealing.

I was also arguing with him about the minimum weight.
Setting it to something like an EG would disadvantage EF owners or older.
