Bit of a bitter sweet update :D

After fitting the new water pump and timing belt I picked up my rocker cover from Marc (Cheers bud :top:) and put everything back together. I love the cover and think its looks spot on in there.

However the overheating problem was still there and the fan wasn't kicking in. I spent most of yesterday flushing and chasing leaks round all the hoses.
Finally made a breakthrough in the afternoon and checked the voltage on the fan switch. Plugged it back in and it all worked perfectly. Temperature gauge sitting at half way for a good half an hour. Fan kicking in and out, Happy Days

Then it happened.... :(

My mate wanted to know what it was like underneath. I told him to have a look and pointed out the one bad bit I knew of underneath the drivers footwell. I explained about what Dave and others had said about the water sitting there, and decided to strip the interior out and have all the carpet up.

The more we pulled up the worse it got :( A few prods with a screwdriver went through in about 4 main areas. They are all round the edges, and I had a look to see how tricky it's going to be to cut bits out to plate up and it doesn't seem too bad.

I'm not that surprised.. it's 25 years old after all. I think I was just in denial and its hit home a bit now. I thought I had quite a bit to do still before I even knew about the rust. Feel a bit winded to be honest, but I will battle on..

Damn. Well most of them have them, holes. Shame, but if your getting it sorted.

Or perhaps buy a solid 1.3 shell and transfer it all over

let me find something for you Adam.

Take the front wings off and the panel surrounding the wiper arms and have a good look down there and inside the ledge that supports the sunroof. I also found that the A-pillers would go from the inside out.

Although all can be repaired :D

Sure you've seen these.

take the sunroof out and blow an airline down the drains, they get very blocked and sometimes causes water to seep down the headlining all the way down to the footwell
