well many faults have occured!

Gearbox in limp mode
upper multi links on the front knocking
snapped Serpentine belt this afternoon with my wife and 5 month old son in the car

Car is booked into garage for timing belt, serpentine belt, aircon belt, water pump and fresh coolant and ATF fluid change and half hour on the Diagnostic computer

£511 bargain

also Just purchased Rosstech VAG COM genuine software and Rosstech HEX USB cable for £265 (awsome piece of kit, enables you to clear fault codes, Flash ecus, adjust parameters, reprogram lights and alarms etc. pretty much everything electrical is adjustable on vehicle)

Best of all while all work is being done I get to drive my beautiful 4g 16 16 fast road civic

I hate VAGs with a passion.

So overrated on reliability. I have a '03 poolo for the winter.. I want to burn it.

that post is ridiculous.

my own personal reasons for buying a passat is

A. it has the TDI engine which is bomb proof and returns large Mpg and develops great torque
B. its smooth and totally comfortable
C. Honda do not make a saloon or estate that is suitable for anyone over 6'3 ( and trust me in my job I drive them all)
D. Hondas are unsafe tin cans that are generally covered in tin worm (doesnt stop me owning 2 20 year old "fast" hondas though, just never want my son in either of them)

it has nothing to do with being Badge concious its to do with having a suitable family car for someone who is 6'6 with a 5 month old son.

Those are my views and decisions.

I personally cannot get my head round why anyone in there right mind would buy a new accord or any other jap saloon. too cramped and cheap looking interiors.

Honda do or should that be "Did" great performance cars but saloons are not there strong point

Cool, entitled to your own opinion.
But as you have begun to discover, mega bucks for bits and when the diesels go wrong. They don't half go wrong.
Your choice though :) and entitled to your opinion

I havent "began" to discover anything,

Of course parts are expensive (although I do not consider £511 to be expensive for what is technically 4 1/2 hrs labour with a specialist plus VAG parts and diagnostic time) its the nature of the beast.

with my 4g 16 16 and my crx when bits go wrong I either replace with Pattern or I upgrade the parts to be more durable but with a family car I want the ride to be as compiant and comfortable as possible so stick with Stealer prices lol

its all fun and games!

be safe in the snow if you have a play mate!

good night everyone

Ive been driving my brothers 2009 Audi A3 1.9 TDi for the past few weeks, it's bloody great.

Sheffield and back is done in about £12 of diesel. 100 miles round trip that is for me.
