"Fresh Meat For The Grinder"

Post by moolan1987 »

Hey guys my names is James, I work as a Number 1 mechanic @ West Surrey Racing. Primarily a BTCC team but I have been doing some WTCC which I hope to do full time next year. I have a :civic: 1.6-16 3DR (ED7 with a D16A9 Heart). I got the car for free from my dads yard after a customer left it years ago. I've been driving her on and off for about 2 years?? It was a daily driver for a while but no its more of my toy as my subaru forester has taken over the mule work for now. I am currently rebuilding the brake calipers on the front atm as they were seized so haven't driven her in a while. But anyway a list of mods so far:
-Tein Superstreet coilovers :drivegear:
-EBC green pads, grooved and drilled discs allround :top:
-Energy Suspension Poli Bushes everywhere (still have a few more to fit inc engine mounts) :drivegear:
-DC sports ceramic coated 4-2-1 manifold :top:
-Some cheap sports exhaust I payed £250 for and desperatly wanna change :not top:
-Totally empty inside only reminents of trim atm is door cards and a dash 8)
-Piper cross panel filter in standard airbox :top:
-Some lovely £45 Universal HID lights that fitted nicely and work really well for the money :top:
-Skunk 2 adjustable camber arms Front and Rear (lovely) :D
Thats pretty much the lot atm, but I plan to dick with the engine a little and lighten/stiffen up the chassis in more detail. So there are a few bits I am looking for like:
-Decent cam upgrade kit and general rebuild bits like gaskets etc
-A really nice full stainless full singing and dancing exhaust to make up for the piece of dog doo doo I have put on my car
-Maybe a cage but that alot of weight that I dont really want
-Also some rails for mounting bucket seats if anyone makes adaptors??

Anyway enough of my Rambling look forward to hearing any feedback and advice on my lil weapon civic.

Cheers James

Indeed Giz, it makes me wonder how many there are in this country? Last year or two and popularity has rocketed!

Oh yeah it might interest you guys but I have Pics from the origin of my car. It was in a Charity race at silverstone for the British GP when it was new and shiny (1991). There were a load of ED7 1.6i -16 and they raced for various charities and companies, some where driven by celebs etc. My car was driven by a competition winner and it was liveried up by Jim Bamber in F1 Cartoon Style. Looks kool, my dad recons I should get stickers made to rep. it but meh!? Anyway if anyone knows of anyone who would like to see the pic lemme know :P

Sounds like a very nicely setup 4G.

I also agree, Tein stuff goes bad pretty quick!
