accord type R's

Post by TG1 »

Does anyone have any experience of them? The mrs is up the duff and quite insistant we'll need a 5 door  So she wants me to start looking at possible replacements for the golf. And she won't let me have anything worse on fuel really, but thats ok as round town the golf struggles to get over 25mpg if driven carefully.

Does anyone know if they come with the recaros in any other colour than that disgusting green,

Or any other suggestions circa 3.5k, 5 door, recaros and not french? insurance doesn't matter too much but running costs sort of do

I'm gonna try and keep the golf as its pretty much big enough to keep with a baby but what do i know?

they have light colour carpets/seats. And the dash is pretty gash on them.

Good call but it'd always handle worse than the golf, and probably be slower with all the extra weight. plus the brand snobbery

ATR is a 4 door, not a 5 door

The Octavia VRS has 30bhp more than the equivilent 1.8T Golf. Stupid marketing from VAG there. So it's faster. Not a bad car either.

My best bet would be an accord type r,

but I'd also look at an alpha 155 as thats pure italian chic (a decent 70,000 miler is only about 2.5k), or a VW bora (very boring though).

..and 4x4! VRS is a much better car for your money....although it isn't going to help your fuel consumption.

Neither is an Accord Type R...although they are great cars!

the vrs's are fwd, Can't see either the vrs or the ATR being too much worse on fuel than the golf, thats more often than not under 26mpg.

Bottom line i reckon anything VAG is off the menu, ATR is a possibility if i can find one for the right money.

How many of you have kids and a 3 door? Is it that hard getting them in and out? I'd be using a carseat with a isofix base

Accord Type R is a good car (I love the Recaro seats)!

H22 is a great engine!
Tuned I would not be surprised to see 230 to 240hp and a lot of torque from the 2.2L NA!
