DNR's 2011 EF Drag car (page 5 for new update)
Every now and again we get bored and decide that we want a challenge.
Sat October 17th is a rwyb at pod, so we though lets build a car for the day.
We were at the local scrappy and a 4dr eg was bought in yesterday with minor probs and we agreed to buy it from them purely as an of road vehicle. This would be an ideal project d16z6 turbo 4dr woohoo.
Well our plans have had to change a little,
By the time i got there with the trailor this morning the eg had been crushed
Bugger we spent a few hours last night getting stuff together ready to run this.
So this morning we sorted through what we currently have and tried to change the plane we found
1 x d16z6 block
1 x d16a6 head
1 x d16z6 head gasket
1 x 1 x L3 gearbox
1 x 4 puck unsprung clutch
1 x pp4 socketed and chipped ecu
1 almost complete turbo conversion bar a few bits that need to be fabbed.
and we have
1 x 4g civic with no engine.
Its kind of a reverse mini me, the block/head/hg combo give 8.6:1 CR Laughing which is even lower than vitara's great for some crazy boost and ignition levels.
Were going to build the motor tomorrow night and over the next week fab up the turbo kit etc
We have a few random bits of suspension and the slaaaaag BFG's.
I reckon we can build it for less than £100 with the bits we have and its about £30 at pod so £160 for the 2 of us well worth it i reckon.
It also means we can see how far the Stock Z6 block can be pushed to the end of the season there is another rwyb at shakey as well i think we will try to run there as well if it holds together.
I will document the build over the next week and take as mnay vids as i can over the week.
We are going to set a target of a high 12/low 13 pass.

DAY 2 (said in a geordie accent)
We are doing this outside of working hours so limited time.
I collected the Shell from the ware house this afternoon and picked up the block and took them both to the unit.
We first proceeded to strip the interior and engine bay.
This car i doubt will ever go back on the road so menial things like lights indicators horn etc are not needed so we removed them.
The plan is very simple,
Get the car as light as possbile as this will help in the fact that we wont have time to give the car a full blown tune, low blow and safe for the first drag day.
Thats how it looked after about 10 mins of being at the unit.
1 hour later
2 hours later
Thats as far as i got this evening as we dont have great lights in the unit at the moment (still waiting on the sparky to fit them cough cough)
Tomorrow night We will have the rest of the interior out and hopefully get the motor built.
