Dude!
1st thing to do is whip the dizzy cap off, sounds like the coil may have gone pop. They do that.
Mine did the same, there were bits of fried coil inside the dizzy cap, shine a torch down the bit that makes contact with the cap, should look all carboned and burnt.
That is if the oil is still inside the engine. You don't mean 'gone bang' as in the motor gone bang do you?
Hope you get it sorted, nice to meet you tonight.

Cheers guys, just got home!
Noticed it was making a loud ticking noise coming from the cylinder head a bit too late. Couldn't hear it over the exhaust and radio at 80mph!
It was only doing it at part throttle, so pulled off the m'way and it cut out at the top of the slip road. Started again to move it and it sounded terrible. Got a couple of hundred yards to pull over out the way and it make a nice squeel noise and cut out!
Havn't started it again since.
Will start investingating soon. Too tired and pissed off to even look at it now![Laughing ](./images/smilies/icon_lol.gif)

sounds similar to what happened to me, you might of lost compression in one or two of cylinders
Try cleaning inside of dizzy cap first, if not start engine and remove one ht lead at a time if you remove one and the engine noise/movement doesnt cange you know which cylinder it is. Then try swapping spark plugs and see if its same cylinder, might be a spark. Mine turned out to be head gasket gone between two cylinders I could remove rad cap and engine would stall that little compression!
I'm not a mechanic just going off previous experiance, Hope car gets sorted man. We turned up to the cheltenham photo shoot after every one had left heard you were down there with the beast shame we didnt get to see it.
You got any pics from photo shoot?
