How much do B18c4 swaps go for nowadays?

Post by outbound »

Just wondering if the prices have dropped much with more K-series engines becoming available/ more crashed MB6's.

Hopefully looking at going either turbo d16, or NA B18 in ~feb 2010, so I'm priceing up both options.

Am I correct thinking I'd be looking at about £1500-2000 for a good turbo setup and tune on the D16, and about the same for a B18 swap into a CRX Si?

Cheers!

While a B20Vtec would be great, I was under the impression that they required rebuilding more often than a B18?

Don't think I'll contact anyone yet unless the D16 in atm dies before then. (I have contacted Sixpointnine about skimming the D16 (My original plan and Stoo was very helpful!)), but unless the engine dies before February then I think now I will save up extra and go B18 or Turbo.

Assuming you give a toss about insurance (I say that flippantly cos most people on here seem not to!) then turboing is going to be the cheapest option to insure.
Insurance and engine swaps are more expensive for the vast majority of people.

Boosting a D16 is nice and cheap too and if it goes wrong for whatever reason a new engine isn't expensive either.

Compared to a B swap, wiring, ecu, engine, box, shafts, mounts, etc, etc

You are indeed correct about the insurance Nominous, just had a check and turbo was cheaper!

I do give a toss about insurance, for whatever reason if I have a crash I want to make sure everything is legit. I do pay through the nose for it though.

Was reading Tris' thread on CRX-UK and am impressed with that set up. Like he and you say, if it goes bang then ~£50 has me going again :D
