Good stuff Walshy, been welding up my rex recently in the exact same places, have to say the clamps help a lot.

Best way man ! Make sure you get a gas one though, gasless is a real PITA much harder to get decent welds.

Yeah pretty common area's its all because of the drain tubes on this one, and yet my boss still wants to keep the damn sunroof :roll:

Bit more welding done :)

Front end bulk head A pillar where the indicator wiing goes through had a rotted away, so cut out and a new plate welded in. Forgot the pics in progress.

Decided that the wire wheeled section was too far gone so new plate, made up and welded in

Decided the rear end section could do with abit more fab work as at the back it was a little crusty, so angle grinder out !

O/S/F inner wheel arch, rotted at the front of it and the back ohh the joy ! Rot cut out and grinded back then zinc primed

Also when i welded up the plate for the indicator wiring i had to drill out the spot welds on this stregthening plate for better access so all painted up and welded back in place. Obvisously need to drill the hole for the wiring again but that can wait for now.

Then since almost everything is done on the O/S barring a small plate for the inner arch, i thought id make it look like a car again for a minute or two :lol:

Then onto the N/S/F inner arch at the back same place as the off side only worse :shock:

ROugh plate made up the, self tappers used to hold in place then beaten into shape, rusted panel still underneath for this to ensure a decent replica of the original.....just without the hole-age :lol:

Haha i know its unbelievable how much there is even fair clean looking places take em back and theres rust underneath :roll:

Im not suire to be honest, between red and black i prefer red but my boss prefers black :lol:

i love restoration threads, doing a sick job mate keep up the good work.

hmmmmm i think black 3gs do look the tits and theres like none left... but red when it fresh is also the bollocks.

i reckon black just cos i never see black 3gs?

Welds aint too bad, im getting better as im going along :)

Thanks man ! Its getting there hopefully get all the welding done by around the end of august begining of september. Then the fun can begin, engine building :D

I do like them in black, but i just think the red stands out more a tidy red one always looks cool. but to be fair any 3g tidy or not looks sweet :lol:

Maybe paint it a nice mercedes black something really deep, we'll see its a way off getting paint yet :shock:

Then i made a start stripping down the waxoyl on the N/S/R inner arch section noticed some corrosion around the seat belt anchor point so out cam the grinder and wire wheel :shock:

Hmmm some fab worked then :lol: Drlled out the spots so just need to chop off the outer plate so i can see just how far the rot has gotten underneath finger crossed it isnt too bad, ill never get the thing finished at this rate :roll:

Haha well i hate bodywork but like welding we should make a deal :lol:

Now personally i dont like the look of the mk1 rex im not sure why im just not a fan, civic all the way 8)

Nothing much to update really bit more of the floor pan done and some of more chopping of the rear end rot, but thats about it. have been pretty busy at the garage so not had much time, got my car in there aswell at the minute we could pull of being jap specialists at the minute. My 4g boss' 3g his brothers ep3, friends impreza 8) Far better than working on sodding fiats :lol:...apart from the subaru PITA doesnt begin to describe :shock:
