B18C4 in a 4.gen sedan - Do I need to stiffen the chassis?

Post by Hakosuka »

OK, so I am putting a B18C4 in my 89 sedan over the winter. Do I need to stiffen up the chassis? I know it will be beneficial, but do I need to? I will definately get a front strut bar. Do I need some fender bars made up? People keep telling me it will tear the chassis up and all sorts of stuff. Personally I think an upper strut bar and some home fabricated fender bars will do the trick for starters!?
But what about torsional rigidity of the chassis? In the middle of the car and the back? Will I benefit from a X bar across the floor or something like that?
Keep in mind, it is a budget project :)

A b18 is hardly powerful.
It will be fine, add a strut brace if you wish.

If you want to do it properly get a roll cage welded in. But this will add weight.

It will be a road car so no rollcage. I was thinking strut bar front and fender braces (home made bolted or just welded). Should be enough I think:)

Don't worry about it at all.
Tower brace just because it's easy. leave the rest.
