Finally found some widened steelies for winter.
The rear is about 5mm deeper than the arch, the front arch is bending onto the tires.
At this moment there are still some trash tires on them, I'll be replacing them with some smaller winter tires :)

Found 2 pirelli tires in size 175/55 yesterday with 5mm tread, for free.
The banded steel was only a hard fit at the front, so I've put the 175/55 tires onto the front ones.
Mounted them today.

At the left 195/50, at the right 175/55
Image

Also highered the civic about 2cm all round, in combination with less camber at the rear
Image

And this is how it will stay for some months because of some heavy contruction works in the garden/driveway.
And I don't want any problems with the summerwheels when the driveway is all open :)
After that the 175/50 winter tires will go onto these wheels.

Fitted the new corners some weeks ago
Image

Been busy with something genius for my sub (credtis go to MightyCarMods) :)
Image

Taped the banded steelies yesterday for a layer of plastidip spray. They had some damage in the paint. Will have a repaint next year.
Image

Mean while I've put the plastidip in a bucket of warm water, so it sprays alot easier.

To bad, the banded steel is already for sale again.
Had some spots in the paint, and the inner edge of the wheels had some rusty spots after rain. So the edge was covered with plastidip, but it just came through the dip. Which is even worse on black wheels :P
Already got another set. They've got some brand new Toyo tires. Later this year I'll put some winter tires on them.
I'm also planning to give them a clear coat of plastidip, to protect them against the salt in winter, to avoid damage.

Small update.

When the engine was still kinda cold, it had a "dip" in power sometimes.
Cleaned the carbs and replaced the fuel filter.

Problem seems solved :)
Also did an oil & filter change etc.

After putting winter tyres on the Zender wheels, the car was shaking alot. After an inspection it seemed that they were bend, all 4 of them.
Didn't feel it with the 195/50 tyres on. The winter tyres were in size 175/50 (lower profile)...
So I've sold them again and now found a simple set of alloys.

Since last weekend I've also bought a civic ED3 sedan.
Besides doing some minor fixes I haven't got any plans with it yet.
And if there are changes, I'll post them right here :)

Oh well, let's update in here :)
A lot happened lately.

I've been busy soldering the wires of some facelift taillights.

Image
Image

And bought a red garnish plate for between the taillights. That way I haven't got a reverse light, it looks cleaner I think.

Image

Also lowered the sedan.
But there was a huge problem: when lowered it wasn't possible to drive it, the front knocked so hard at 30 km/h that the radio went down etc.
Had a quick look but found nothing.
I thought that it came from the coilovers, so I've tried 2 other coilover sets but the problem was still there.
Went to the dealer and they thought there was something wrong with the gearbox.
They changed gearbox: problem not solved.
They changed CV joints: problem not solved.
They checked the brake discs + pads: problem not solved.
After all that they told me it was because of the front camber. Nonsense, because my hatch has even more camber and that goes perfect.
Had some discussion there, so they have put it in original shocks and I left.
But still had to pay a big price for a car that wasn't fixed...

Got some US indicators

Image

New radiator

Image

A few days later someone came onto our property and smashed the right headlight of the sedan. Jealousy I guess.
Replaced it by a new headlight already.

Image

Lowered the sedan again, to search the knocking problem myself.
I've decided to take off the whole front suspension, bearings, tie rods, etc.
A pic from in between

Image

Checked everything

Image

Foud some pieces of rubber hanging out of the bearing. Fixed that (by the way, weird that the mechanic didn't see this, right?).

Image

Replaced several bushings, bolts, tie rod etc and went for another test driver.
Nothing helped, the car was still knocking as hell.
Then I decided to search for weird car noises on youtube. Kinda funny.
After watching several movies I was pretty sure there was something with the CV joints.
Took off the CV joints, replaced them again (because the mechanic already replaced them), and FINALLY, the car drove perfect! :OD

From that moment I've been doing all my other mods.
Roof bars + wind deflector, window visors, my wheels, etc.

Image

Smoothed a facelift front bumper and painted it matte black (front lip still has to come).

Image

Image

Image

I've been bleeding the brakes (was necessary after I took everything off).

The interior for now

Tried something with EK sideskirts last week, and I think it looks kinda cool.
Now I just have to think about a good way of installing them :)

Image
Image
Image

After that I took the cleaned front bumper off the car again, because the matching lip hasn't been painted yet.
A matte black front bumper with grey (plastic) parts around it, didn't look that nice.
Mounted a golf 3 front lip on the original bumper, which also looks kinda good.

A lot of things changed, here's an update :)

Got some OEM US facelift corners, with facelift headlights

Image

Ordered some 16" wheels in the USA for the sedan. 16x8 +20 front, 16x9 +15 rear.

Image
Image
Image
Image

Bought a spoon-style exhaust tip for the sedan and the hatch.

Image

Also bought new wheels for the hatch. 16x8 +30 front and 16x8 +20 rear.

Image
Image
Image
Image

Then I've started making my own armrest.
The 1st version (very rough with big gaps etc)

Image

And the 2nd version without visible screws (filler + sanded). Painted black.

Image
Image

Compared to original

Image

Next I've also bought a pair of US corners for the hatch, got some tires on the new wheels, and got 3rd brakelights on both the sedan and hatch.
For the hatch I've bought an OEM US Si spoiler.
The sedan got a universal one which looks like an OEM one :)
