So here's my problem, i can't undo the 17mm bolt (fill plug) and so with that i haven't taken out the 3/8inch socket bolt (drain plug), so is there in any way i can fill my gearbox up easily? I heard of taking out the VSS (Vehicle Speed Sensor) and fill trough there, but my car is a 1400cc GL EC9 1991... I need help someone please reply, bought 2 liters of Honda Genuine manual transmission fluid for nothing right now lol.... :civic: :drivegear: thanks in advance!

Why can't you undo it? Always undo the fill before the drain.

Stick a decent spanner on it and give it a few taps with a hammer.

You can fill through the reverse switch.

You can also fill it through the vent tube. Warm the oil first though or you'll be there forever.

lol can't put a 17mm ratchet on it, because hits the arm bushing...
So i heard that u can fill the gearbox with the oil trough the VSS (speed sensor hole), instead of the fill hole or others...
Wouldn't you recommend i? Because one can still control how much oil it's going there, so no need for the fill hole to be uncovered, i mean drain the oil (trough the drain bolt) and put oil trough one of the options u mention or VSS right?
Is that it? thanks again!

I have tried with hammer on the spanner itself, not on the bolt, plus the bolt is 'cracked out', meaning the spanner won't grip on it anymore, ive tried with my foot, first thing i did on this car that i was forced at the time to give up... Now i believe the solution to unbolt the fill bolt is by using (idk if this i what u call it), a griffin key/spanner (similar to vice grips, which i tried and failed, but is bigger than the vicegrips which should help to unbolt with easy, but i am off getting one of those yet...
And i mean there is no need for it, really if it's fine by filling it using another hole...

Yea you can't get a ratchet on them.

Bolt term would be 'rounded off'. As in spanner turns on the bolt.

Yes you can fill through the vss, it needs 2 litres.

I'd still want to try and sort the fill bolt out though. I think you may be saying it already but a set of mole grips may get it. Better still a set of stillsons.
