The very early ones were available in black but they withdrew it soon after for some reason. It was re-introduced on the 1.6i 16 when that came out.

Does anyone know how this problem can be remedied? It only happens when I apply the brakes when they are hot.

Everyone's so young. It's amazing that when i first got into these cars in the early 90s they seemed to be driven exclusively by pensioners, so I've never 'fitted in' age-wise!

U know it's a 4g when people look at u & wonder how a hatchback can be so pretty.

Thanx for the replies guyz. I didn't consult the owner's manual or the inside of the door 'cos I've got a GL but I've fitted 14" wheels as I think the standard 13" ones look slightly puny.
