cut the tailgate inner skin out so its just the outer left, you can only cut out from the bottom of the pillars down as if you cut the lot out it may become abit flimsy as the oem window is gone. i'll get a pic up of what iv done to give you an idea and it makes a hell of a difference, id say it was...

as long as you use the correct tre's that match the hubs the racks are interchangable, i have a manual gl rack on my sir using sir tre's.

hot or cold dont matter, if you can get into it with a hacksaw go for it, grinders can easily grip on aluminium and you dont want that, if you have to use a grinder go slow.
