You mean your car is slower than that?

I would've thought it would be a bit faster tbh :? , our gl feels faster than 11 sec but i have never timed it so maybe i'm wrong...

Might aswell get the cambelt changed, it isn't a difficult job especially for a mechanic. The oil is probably coming from the front left side of the engine right? if it is don't worry about it, they all seem to go there where the oilway is. Gearboxs also seem to go, bit of a weak point i guess. Prob...

Well you could get it rolling roaded and see if it's down on power and maybe make sure the brakes arn't sticking or something like that.

Well 14.7 is pretty quick for a near standard civic!!!

I've run a 14.8 in mine but usually run low to mid 15's.

Your mate is probably a pretty good driver and knows how to get the best from his car.

Engine probably more hassle to fit than its worth tbh.

If you bought a whole 16v are you gonna use any more bits off it?

I 'think' the 16v brake set up should bolt straight up, the gl only has 230mm discs and the 16v has 240mm.

The good thing about the VW's is how easy engine swaps are  My mates put a 2L 8v in his Scirocco 8) and everything just bolted pretty much straight up. Swapped a few mounts and changed to carb from injection it ran a 15.5 the other day, which is pretty quick, and he's only put a cam in it.
